Job Title: Director of Landscape Architecture
Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Landscape Architecture to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in site planning and landscape architectural design, with at least 8 years of experience. This role requires excellent graphic design presentation skills and the ability to coordinate with other engineers, subconsultants, and manage budgets and billing. The Director will act as the main point of contact for projects and will be responsible for overseeing a variety of landscape architecture projects.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, modify, and review drawings for landscape architecture projects according to established standards.
Act as Project Manager or Task Manager, discussing objectives, requirements, and budget of a project with the Team Leader.
Research requirements for unique landscape projects and provide specialized technical assistance for landscape components, materials, elements, and building codes.
Conduct feasibility and environmental impact studies, select sites, and specify design requirements.
Prepare documents and present ideas for client review, including renderings and animations.
Coordinate with other engineers and subconsultants to ensure project success.
Manage budgets, billing, and act as the main point of contact for projects.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture (PLA/RLA)
Minimum of 8 years of experience in site planning and landscape architectural design
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Graphic design presentation skills
Grading experience
Oral presentation experience
Proficiency in CADD
Proficiency in software such as SketchUp, Adobe, Microsoft Office, Rhino, Photoshop, and AutoCAD
Experience in landscape design, site development, and land development
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with projects in Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Charles County, Maryland is ideal but not required
A PLA certification or close to obtaining it
Experience in land planning

Our office is located in Montgomery Village, Maryland and provides Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, and Land Planning services throughout Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia. We have a strong history of successful projects in both the private and public sectors, including urban designs, streetscapes, commercial, multi-use, institutional, parks and recreation, and high-end residential homes. The company has been in business for over 50 years and has a high willingness to promote from within. We offer a company truck for field crew and financial support for obtaining professional certifications.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $140000.00
