Actalent Civil Design Engineer in Montgomery Village, Maryland

Job Title: Civil Design EngineerJob Description

Design land development projects in Prince George's, Montgomery, and Howard Counties of Maryland. Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D to develop design concepts and plans in various areas including site layout, water, sewer mains, roads, soil erosion and sedimentation control plans, floodplain studies, and grading plans. Provide assistance to other team members and management to accomplish department goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Design land development projects in specified counties.

  • Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D for developing design concepts and plans.

  • Create site layout, water, sewer mains, roads, soil erosion and sedimentation control plans, floodplain studies, and grading plans.

  • Assist team members and management in achieving department goals.

  • Visit client sites and manage project activities.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience designing with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.

  • Knowledge of Montgomery County permits.

  • Willingness to visit client sites and engage in project management.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

  • E.I.T. certification preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in Private Land Development preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of Maryland and Northern Virginia jurisdictions, and the District of Columbia.

  • Experience in drainage and floodplain studies, site grading, storm drain and paving plans, stormwater management environmental site design, and water and sewer plans.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a group.

Work Environment

The work is located in Montgomery Village, Maryland, providing Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, and Land Planning services throughout Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia. The company has a rich history of nearly 45 years of successful projects in both the private and public sectors, including urban designs, streetscapes, commercial, multi-use, institutional, parks and recreation, and high-end residential homes. The company offers a supportive environment with a high willingness to promote within, financial support for obtaining PE certification, and a company truck for field crew use. Local candidates are preferred.
