Join our team as an Animal Care Technician and contribute to making pet food taste great! Our company is the leader in pet food palatability, ensuring product performance for pet food manufacturers and their customers. As an Animal Care Technician, you will work with both cats and dogs, focusing solely on animal care without any customer interaction.
Responsibilities
Maintain kennels and facility areas, ensuring they are organized, sanitized, and free of odors.
Feed cats and dogs on schedule and ensure they have access to clean water.
Use provided pet toys to play and socialize with animals.
Bathe and groom animals.
Prepare pet food for scheduled feedings.
Weigh leftover food and dispose of it accordingly.
Maintain documentation on dogs and cats, updating this information as needed.
Provide exceptional animal care and maintain a supportive and collaborative environment.
Essential Skills
Experience around large groups of animals is preferred.
Demonstrated experience with jobs involving being on your feet and performing cleaning duties is highly preferred.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous work experience in a farm, groomer, pet store, shelter, humane society, vet clinic, vet hospital, or similar environment.
Knowledge in animal husbandry, animal science, animal breeding, or vivarium.
High School Diploma required.
6 months or more of animal care experience in a veterinary environment, kennel, or shelter is strongly preferred.
Work Environment
This role supports the Palatability Assessment Resource Center (PARC) to administer taste trials with animals. The facility is advanced and well-maintained, with high expectations for constant activity. The work is team-oriented, but accountability is crucial. You will be exposed to various weather conditions year-round and can expect to hit 10,000 steps daily. The schedule includes a two-week rotation of 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with workdays varying between weekdays and weekends. You will not work two holidays in a row or in consecutive years. The facility does not close for inclement weather, so reliability is essential.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50
