Cadmus Mid-Level Drinking Water Policy Consultant in Montgomery, Alabama

Overview

What You’ll Be Doing

A successful candidate will provide water policy research and analysis support for Cadmus’ Public Services Division/Water Team and will support contracts with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other government clients. This position will provide support work in the areas of drinking water policy, specifically topics related to the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWRs) and the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). NPDWRs include regulations such as Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) and the newly finalized PFAS Rule.

This position requires someone who is initiative-taking to perform and learn, able to work collaboratively and independently, detail-oriented, comfortable reading and understanding technical writing, and able to manage assigned tasks and projects from start to finish with input from supervisors. Candidates will have distinguished themselves with academic excellence and a clearly demonstrated work ethic. A successful candidate may work on one or more of the following EPA programs: Lead Service Line Replacement Accelerators, Support for the Implementation of NPDWRs, Drinking Water Grants, State and Tribal Primacy Support, and Building the Capacity of Drinking Water Systems.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and review for quality guidance documents, reports, case studies, presentations, and other documents directed to specific audiences (e.g., underserved and/or disadvantaged communities).

  • Assess state drinking water programs to determine compliance with NPDWRs and data reporting requirements.

  • Conduct research on drinking water-related topics, including regulations, grants, and Safe Drinking Water Act programs.

  • Provide task management oversight and general responsibilities:

  • Preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes on internal and external calls.

  • Making sure that managers and technical staff are prepared for relevant meetings and meet project deadlines.

  • Preparing assignments for individuals and technical project teams.

  • Ensuring project manager and client satisfaction across multiple projects in a program.

  • Facilitating information sharing and planning across projects and teams.

  • Supporting the efforts of multiple project managers.

  • Providing strategic thinking and problem solving in support of client initiatives.

  • Ensuring all practices are conducted in accordance with internal quality control and quality assurance policies.

  • Supporting high-quality client deliverables.

  • Using quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze data and conduct evaluations.

  • Support business development efforts by maintaining and updating the organization's eminence in the water space.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with coursework in public policy, public administration, public health, environmental science and policy, or other relevant areas and 5 years relevant work experience OR a Master's degree and 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Classwork or experience with EPA regulatory or public policy programs.

  • Classwork or experience with lead in drinking and/or PFAS is preferred.

  • Must demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing environments, and work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Must demonstrate strong communications skills, both written and verbal, comfortable speaking over the phone and to live audiences.

  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Must be able to work under deadlines.

  • Must demonstrate a positive work ethic in all situations with coworkers, project managers, and clients.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $70,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
