Dept. of the Air Force Food Service Worker in Montgomery, Alabama
This position will be used to fill positions within Riddenbacker's and Hanger 42 Coffee Shops.
This is an intermittent/ flexible position. Incumbent can be scheduled 0-40 hours based on activity need.
Duties
Operates a small full-service coffee shop, preparing and serving the full range of coffee beverages and other specialty non-alcoholic drinks. Prepares and serves simple food items. Operates coffee shop machinery to include commercial espresso machine, etc. Records sales, takes customer payments for goods by operating a cash register. Stocks coffee bar.
Maintains clean and sanitary work area, utensils, equipment, and coffee bar. Serves patrons directly, receives payment, operates cash register, and makes and returns change to patrons. 2. Maintains work area to ensure cleanliness. Sets up/cleans tables for customers and replenishes condiment items as needed. Washes, soaks, scours glassware, dishes and utensils as required.
Also performs heavy duty cleaning tasks as required as follows: coffee machines, ceilings, under and behind equipment, refrigerators, washes floors and walls, sanitizes garbage cans and etc. May unload and organize stock from delivery truck. Collects/transfers trash from work area to disposal area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Effort: Requires frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing over 25 pounds. Continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Use of a ladder/step stool, powered cleaning equipment may be required.

Conditions of Employment
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training

Qualifying Experience: Ability to follow simple written and oral instructions. Ability to use hand tools for cleaning, and to operate simple machines. Skill in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgement in sequencing tasks. Knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning simple equipment and work area.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
