Job Description

Monitor patient arrival and assist with patient flow, ensuring that patients and visitors are greeted promptly and courteously. Escort patients to exam rooms, monitor wait times, assist in preparing for exams, and inform physicians when patients are ready. Assist during examinations if required or requested. Obtain and record patient information, including chief complaints, histories, vital signs, venipuncture, allergies, specimen collection, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Document results in patient charts within the scope of practice. Perform, prepare, and assist as needed with clinical and technical services such as EKG and phlebotomy. Prepare medical records and document heights, weights, and vital signs. Ensure lab and other reports are on record before each patient's appointment. Provide interpretation services and clerical support necessary for efficient and effective office functioning. Maintain examination rooms and medical areas in a clean and orderly fashion. Stock examination rooms with supplies and check supplies from vendors against packing slips. Update pertinent patient information, including medical insurance coverage and eligibility in the appropriate EMR system. Retrieve and file medical reports and lab results. Ensure the confidentiality of patient health information in accordance with HIPPA rules.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in taking vitals and documenting in EMR systems.

  • Experience with scheduling appointments and patient care.

  • Knowledge of HIPPA rules for maintaining patient health information confidentiality.

  • Ability to perform EKG and phlebotomy tasks.

  • 2+ years of healthcare experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic EMR system.

  • Medical assisting certification.

Work Environment

The work environment is a busy outpatient office with 50-100 patients a day.

The position may require working in Suffern approximately once a week. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
