The primary purpose of this job is maintaining compliance and continuous improvement of the ATI Specialty Materials’ quality management system, with primary focus in customer quality and central function. This role will manage customer quality requests, requirements, specifications and audit activities. This position will lead root cause and corrective action investigations and drive effective implementation of robust solutions.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

  • Lead investigations into product or process non-compliance and drive implementation of corrective actions, quality improvement projects, and the use of continuous improvement tools.

  • Maintain knowledge of customer requirements.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects that improve the Safety, Right the First Time, and Meet the Forecast.

  • Work within and/or lead cross-functional teams to develop robust solutions in a proactive manner.

  • Report and drive improvement on Quality KPIs related to process and product non-conformances, claims, and COPQ

  • Lead and coordinate onsite customer audits for one or more ATI SM US locations.

  • Confirm and maintain compliance to customer quality requirements and specifications.

  • Coordinate customer information requests, including regarding the ATI Quality System.

  • Execute the quality function for customer qualification programs.

  • Lead development and implementation of the quality system improvements, specifically leveraging best practices across manufacturing sites and product families.

  • Maintain quality records and modify procedural documents.

  • Participate and/or lead internal quality audits.

  • Support quality related certifications and accreditations.

  • Engage in activities that promote growth in knowledge necessary to perform essential tasks.

Education Required

  • 4-year College Degree in Materials Science Engineering, Technical, or Quality related discipline OR equivalent experience

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years’ of quality systems or engineering experience.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Aerospace or metals industry experience is preferred.

  • Experience with industry standard quality systems tools (ie 8D, Six Sigma, FAI) is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job.

Knowledge of:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Power Point at a minimum) required to accomplish day-to-day work activities and willingness to learn additional programs.

  • Sufficient knowledge of company, products, objectives and operations.

  • Oracle, Maximo, etc. experience a plus.

Skilled in:

  • Established capability using a scientific mindset or method in creative problem-solving; such as previous involvement identifying opportunities in the workplace and applying continuous improvement models to achieve positive results

  • Exception analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Effective interpersonal leadership skills, and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management and prioritization skills.

  • Managing and responding to customer investigations, claims, and root cause/corrective action

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate (written & verbal) with customers, production, and technical personnel.

  • Successfully balance multiple projects at various stages with limited supervision in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

  • Work independently as well as with and through others to achieved desired results.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and timely thru the implementation of long-term solutions.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate and resolve conflict.

  • Ability to foster collaborations, inspire confidence, and motivate individuals across diverse teams in a manufacturing environment in order to meet objectives.
