Primary Purpose of this Job
Has technical responsibility for the overall operation of the chemical analysis laboratories. Serves as technical resource supporting other chemical analysis laboratories within ATI. This position is responsible for analytical method development/validation in accordance with ASTM or other industry standards. Coordinates round robins and interlaboratory testing as necessary to assure accreditation and data measurement quality requirements. Implements statistical methods of data analysis, as necessary, to assure method and measurement integrity. Responsible to ensure compliance to accreditation programs such as ISO 9000, ISO 17025, Nadcap, GE S-400. Prepares for audits and actively participates in non-conformance resolutions.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)
Conceives and directs analytical chemistry projects which result in improvements in service and quality for the chemistry laboratory.
Conceives and implements strategies for improving overall analytical quality for all ATI chemistry laboratories. Conducts and supports activities related laboratory accreditations.
Serves as an expert analytical chemistry technical resource for all ATI chemistry laboratories. Also serves as a consultant for R&D, product engineering, and QA on process and analysis related l issues.
Coordinates activities which help conversion melt sources provide quality analysis of ATI alloys
Serves as an analytical instrumentation expert involved in equipment specification and troubleshooting
Education Required
Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry is preferred or equivalent working experience
Experience Required
A minimum of 7-10 years experience in a similar position
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job.
Knowledge of:
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Power Point at a minimum) required to accomplish day-to-day work activities and willingness to learn additional programs.
Sufficient knowledge of company, products, objectives and operations.
Oracle, Maximo, etc. experience a plus.
Industry and specific customer chemical testing specifications.
