MId South Extrusion Production Worker in Monroe, Louisiana

MAJOR FUNCTION:

The major function of the Packer B is to prepare the finished rolls of film for shipment according to order instruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: INTRODUCTORY PERIOD:

  1. Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by wearing protective eye gear, safety shoes, earplugs and watching other team memberandrsquo;s movements and signals.

  2. Ability to accurately read tape measure to within 1/16 of an inch.

  3. Prepares for new rolls on the machines by setting up the core, loading cores on shaft, chucking the shaft, and preparing the core (i.e., taping, gluing, or using a static pinning).

  4. Prepares packing materials according to the work orders.

  5. Packages completed rolls by banding on a pallet and using the stretch wrapper machine.

  6. Removes completed rolls from machine using a forklift, hydraulic lift, clamps or manual lifting.

  7. Apply Roll Labels and Pallet Labels professionally in a consistent manner.

  8. Cleans machinery and work area, using air hose, brushes, and cleaning solvents and placing scraps into boxes.

  9. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed by the management.

CLASS ONE:

  1. All duties from the Introductory Period.

  2. Completes packaging labels by entering information into computer or manually selecting from the different labels.

  3. Verifies weight within tolerances and records on production tally.

  4. Assists Packer andldquo;Aandrdquo;s with maintenance of machines such as changing screens and die changes.

  5. Transport completed load to staging area using a forklift.

  6. Works in teams with Packer Aandrsquo;s, Lead Operators, and Senior Lead Operators in threading a machine, machine changeover and during emergencies, assisting at Class 1, and solo at Class 2.

  7. Enters data (weight, footage, pallet number) on Production Tally and into computer data base.

  8. Reads and interprets work orders, and related documentation to determine methods and sequence of operations.

  9. Recycles plastic scraps by cutting down rolls and placing into the baler.

  10. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed by the management.

CLASS TWO:

  1. All duties from Introductory Period and Class 1.

  2. Works in teams with Packer Aandrsquo;s, Lead Operators, and Senior Lead Operators in threading a machine, machine changeover and during emergencies, working solo at Class 2.

  3. Check and determine if a bags seal and serration meet specifications.

  4. Assist Packer andldquo;Aandrdquo; to examine surface of product for defects such as scratches, feathered edges, gel, lensing, burns, and discolorations.

  5. Assist Packer andldquo;Aandrdquo; in adjusting machine settings.

  6. Assist Packer andldquo;Aandrdquo; in mixing and dumping resin into hoppers.

  7. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed by the management.

CLASS THREE:

  1. All duties from Introductory Period, Class 1 and Class 2.

  2. At least 1 year on job.

  3. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed by the management.

CLASS FOUR:

  1. All duties from Introductory Period, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3.

  2. At least 2 years on job.

  3. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed by the management.

Experience and Education: Previous Extrusion experience preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirement:

Lifting 50 to 100 pounds at various times. Bending , kneeling, standing about 80% of the day and 10% walking or climbing stairs and 10% sitting (mostly at the computer).

Organizational Relationships:

Reports directly to the Packer A, then the Lead Operator, then the Sr. Lead Operator. Works closely with other Packer Bandrsquo;s, Maintenance personnel and Quality personnel.
