Shell IE Maintenance Technician in Monaca, Pennsylvania

What’s the Role?

As an I/E Maintenance Technician your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following in accordance with relevant codes:

  • Troubleshooting DCS control interfaces; level, flow and pressure measurement equipment; vibration measurement instrumentation; Low, Medium, and High Voltage equipment and power generation and distribution equipment

  • Read and understand piping/instrument and electrical drawings of instrumentation, control, power and metering circuitry

  • Remove, Repair, Maintain, and test emergency shutdown valves and control valves

  • Understanding of proper application of pressure rated piping/tubing fittings associated with various equipment (manual sample stations, control valves, instrumentation)

  • Diagnose and apply results using various test equipment

  • Apply Electrical Safety Rules in accordance with site and OSHA standards.

  • Record work history and submit feedback for continuous improvement of Maintenance plans, policies and procedures

  • Troubleshoot and repair instrument or electrical systems

  • Perform routine installation and calibration of instrument or electrical systems

  • Ability to perform reactive or preventative maintenance of instrument or electrical systems and components

Work Schedule: 9/80 base work schedule with varied schedules depending on worksite demand. Certain plant conditions will require night shift, weekends, and holidays (turnarounds, outages, major plant activities, production support)

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the USA on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Electrical or Instrumentation craft lines in a chemical industry, industrial, manufacturing, or military work environment

  • Industry Accredited Training or Apprenticeship program , Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or Military Maintenance School is preferred

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation

  • Willing to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation

  • Willing to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights with or without accommodation

  • Must be willing to work in an environment that requires the daily use of computers (i.e., iOS, MS Suite, SAP)

  • Must be willing to be trained and maintain certification to operate motorized lifting equipment such as man-lifts, cranes, trucks, forklifts, etc. to support craft activities.

  • Must be willing to respond to emergencies, successful candidates must reside within 60 minutes of the site, or be willing to relocate to within 60 minutes of the site without relocation assistance

  • Willing to be on call and meet call-¬out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies

  • As a part of the pre-¬employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre-employment background, medical, and reference checks, including hair & fluid (saliva or urine) drug testing

  • Willing to support the company's drug¬ free work environment, which will include random drug/alcohol screenings

  • Willing to take and achieve satisfactory results on Shell’s pre-employment testing battery

  • With proper training, willing and able to lift 40 lbs with or without accommodation, and able to use safe lifting techniques with the use of heavy equipment

  • Willing to be clean shaven and work while wearing a respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Instrumentation

  • Troubleshooting and operating a Process Control System, or DCS control interfaces (experience with Emerson DeltaV is a plus)

  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting various process instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, custody transfer, weight, etc)

  • Experience with install, test, troubleshoot and repair of fire and gas detection equipment and control systems. (Experience with Det-Tronics is a plus)

  • Install, test, troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) including correcting ladder logic (Allen-Bradley, Seimens PCS7, GE Mark VII)

  • Troubleshooting, calibration and making field repairs to control valves, positioners, and actuators

  • Experience bending and creating new tubing runs (Swagelok or Parker)

  • Detailed knowledge of HART-based communicators

Electrical

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining Low Voltage equipment (480V and below). (Experience with ABB LV MCC if a plus)

  • Experience in Power generation equipment and distribution equipment ranging from 4.16kV – 138kV including transformers, generation support equipment, and switchgear. (Experience with Siemens equipment is a plus)

  • Test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electric heat trace. (Experience with Thermon and TraceNET is a plus)

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting uninterruptible power supplies (GUTOR experience is a plus)

In order to be considered, you must complete the assessment and receive a passing score, even if you have taken previous assessments. The hourly salary range for this position is $42 - $50 per hour max. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
