General Information & Responsibilities

This position serves as the initial enrollment representative for the Adult Education program, provides clerical support to CEC faculty and staff, and provides front-line support for the Adult Education and PaCE Departments.

This position is held at the Community Education Center in Kewanee, IL.

Description of Duties

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

a. Provides customer service by serving as first contact at the CEC – greeting visitors and students, answering questions, assessing student needs, making appropriate referrals, answering phones, and providing directions.

b. Administers Adult Education assessment tests and gathers intake information.

c. Inputs Adult Education data (student registration, testing, attendance, and progress) into student information systems.

d. Determines eligibility and assists ineligible individuals in identifying other BHC resources to meet their instructional needs.

e. Submits complete and accurate Adult Education paperwork as required by the grants.

f. Maintains student records, attendance, and rosters to assist with reports.

g. Contacts students about class status/changes to upcoming or current classes.

h. Performs clerical duties such as typing of letters/reports, distributing mail, completing standard office forms, answering phones, and organizing/filing invoices, disbursement requests, and purchase orders.

DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:

a. Assists in creating and distributing Adult Education materials and mailings.

b. Responsible for maintaining inventory of office supplies and operation of CEC office equipment.

c. Maintains CEC room usage book.

d. Troubleshoots technology issues and submits issues to the BHC ITS Help Desk.

e. Represents PaCE and Adult Education at community/college information events.

f. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Community Education Center (CEC) Coordinator.

d. Works cooperatively with all students, visitors, and community agencies.

Education & Experience

(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)

a. High school diploma or equivalent required.

b. Minimum of one year of work experience in an office setting performing clerical duties preferred.

c. Minimum of one year of work experience providing customer service preferred.

d. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 required.

e. Ability to work cooperatively with diverse populations required.

f. Ability to organize workload, multi-task, and follow through on assignments required.

g. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
