Qualus Engineer I - Civil Structural in Mississippi
Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus as a Civil Structural Engineer I. TheCivil Structural Engineer will perform engineering and design duties for transmission line or substation design, which require application of engineering principles. This position will be involved in all aspects of civil design for substations, including permitting, site work, structural and foundation design, and support of substation physical design and equipment layout. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to further develop an employee’s job knowledge and abilities.
Responsibilities
Work with a project team under a supervisor to create or modify all civil and structural design documents and drawings for a project.
Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations, rigid bus analysis, foundation designs and structural analysis, with minimal supervision.
Learn and apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, IBC, ANSI, AISC and ACI.
Participate in ongoing technical training through work assignments and strategically selected 3 rd party classes.
Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
Participates in quality assurance and quality control programs.
Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from a US accredited college or university.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of hire is required.
Knowledge of steel and concrete design.
Basic knowledge of structural analysis.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
