Job Description

Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor Accounting, this role supports both sites in Canada as well as the Bend, Oregon site in the U.S. (remotely) by performing a combination of financial accounting, reporting and controls activities to ensure financials are accurate and complete.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end tasks, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and financial reporting supplements to Corporate that is shared amongst the Canada Controllership team as well as perform financial or accounting analysis as needed.

  • Analyze monthly fluctuations to identify potential adjustments and investigate aging balances.

  • Act as a key liaison between site employees and the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) shared services teams by troubleshooting and removing barriers, including:

  • Review and resolve vendor invoice related issues, analyze aged payables to prompt timely action and support invoice approvers to maintain a strong paid-on-time metric.

  • Own the client credit and rebill process while providing insights on the trending of errors and recommend preventative measures

  • Lead the client billback process with the support of the Business / Project Management teams (i.e. reimbursement of client-funded capital projects, inventory consumption and client material requests) by performing clearing activities timely and accurately to match spend against client invoices.

  • Assist the Collection team with calls for action to resolve invoice disputes and aged AR and lead efforts to reduce the bad debt provision.

  • Provide guidance to the Cash Application team to ensure the timely completion of clearing activities and proper coding of incoming receipts.

  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and fixed asset counts.

  • Conduct revenue audits to identify and correct potential misstatements to financials.

  • Ensure continued compliance with accounting policies and SOX internal controls while seeking opportunities for improvement.

  • Create, maintain and improve standard operating procedures.

  • Provide support with internal and external audit requests including tax-related matters.

  • Analyze, engage, drive insights and make recommendations to improve process efficiency, including opportunities for increased automation of the finance function.

  • Collaborate with the Controllership teams at other sites in the DPD North America group to implement standardized processes, improved controls and recommend solutions to remove common barriers.

  • Assist in the education and training of Canadian Finance and non-Finance employees on accounting matters and implications as policy changes arise.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

Finance/Accounting designation is preferred or working towards it (CPA)

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of previous experience within an Assurance, Audit, and/or Controllership organization

Previous experience with the AR and AP cycle

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
