Panasonic North America Customs Compliance Analyst in Mississauga, Ontario
Overview
Supports Management to ensure we are current on compliance with CBSA Trusted Trade Program requirements (PIP/CSA) and other regulatory requirements pertaining to Forced Labor and those under the Customs Act and other associated trade compliance activities within and related to PCI Business Units are undertaken in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and other government regulations. Prepares ad hoc reports, project plans, recommendations, process improvement and participates in projects as required.
Responsibilities
Supports Management with Partners in Protection Program Minimum Security Requirements program management related to customs regulatory compliance by creating, validating a work plan, and achieving targeted milestones for completion. Key support in Trade Chain Partner evaluation and management. Establishes execution of tasks by key stakeholders and ensures execution. Updates CBSA Portal and other reporting software. Monitors and reports risk-based mapping to management. Supports audit management.
Supports Management with Forced Labor related activities and execution of PIP Supply Chain and Trade compliance activities such as supports management and execution of tasks related to Forced Labor requirements, reviews and implements overall program activities within Canada in alignment with the Global Panasonic Forced Labor Program, interfaces with Panasonic Global team on procurement activities in Japan and globally as required.
Monitors execution of tasks by other groups within the regional and global forced labor program to ensure US requirements are met my required deadlines. Supports development of audit process and delivery of procedure and reporting. Arranges and chairs meetings with stakeholders and ensure execution of project tasks.
Creates and establishes SOPs, KPIs, audit requirements, training requirements, reporting requirements and development. Creates and presents PowerPoints with status of projects. Supports projects with reports and data analysis.
Keeps current on regulations (D-memos, CSCB/IE Canada publications) and provides regular update and tracking of items for consideration for internal process update/change. Reviews WI/SOP and tracks changes. Supports the creation and management of Trade Policy Compliance Program and Documentation for PCI.
Supports Master Data Management as required to import system and identifies areas for process improvement for audit and compliance purposes. (i.e. Trade Chain Partners, Tariff Classification, Country of Origin).
Supports Management with CSA/CARM Program management objectives to ensure appropriate WI/SOP is in place for audit. Manages and reports on activity. Develops, executes and communicates KPIs/metrics/results related to department compliance, accuracy, productivity, and efficiencies.
Works with external consultants on trade compliance activity such as ruling requests to validate classification, origin and/or valuation. Also supports report/recommendation activity from consultants and creates/revises SOP/WI.
Participates in project work, assignments, and any other tasks assigned by department management. Creates and manages road map plan, tracking and providing updates.
Qualifications
A two-year Customs Administration diploma with 5 years related work experience in a compliance role supporting process improvement.
Certified Customs Specialist designation and Certified Trade Compliance Specialist are required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Power Point). Familiarity with Customs Broker Software an asset. Experience using current tools in analyzing vast amounts of information.
Excellent problem-solving skills to provide alternatives from various options.
Excellent relationship building and management skills.
Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization as well as externally to customs and suppliers.
