Xylem Project Management Internship in Mississauga, Canada

The Role:

Xylem is seeking intern candidates to work under the direction of a Project Manager (PM), Senior Project Manager (SPM), or the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) to support the project management team. As a member of the team you would assist with project management duties, with a primary emphasis on planning, resource coordination, and part ownership of tasks in the Delivery Process. The Project Management Intern is responsible for gathering, distributing, and organizing information in relation to the execution of projects.

Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10-12 weeks and are an opportunity to get hands-on, professional experience while making a lasting contribution to Xylem as an organization. Our internship program is intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for all full-time early career positions and rotational programs. The Summer Internship is a great opportunity to learn more about Xylem and see if a career in water technology is right for you.

The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supporting PM/SPM completing individual PM/Delivery process steps for ongoing projects

  • Submits and tracks requests for resources (both personnel and equipment)

  • Manages project related documentation and platforms (e.g. AX and Teamwork) by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and stored through the project life cycle

  • With direction from ROM/PM/SPM compiles, maintains, and updates cost and project schedules for all assigned projects including margin analysis, project data reconciliation, and comparison of actuals to budget as well as forecast

  • Completes administrative tasks including record keeping as part of the project management process

  • Provides and communicates project performance and schedules updates to stakeholders. Fields queries from external and internal stakeholders and coordinates responses.

  • Ensure safe work practices and SOPs are implemented throughout the project life cycle

  • Internally manages repetitive/cyclical projects such as asset monitoring projects maintaining their documentations, financials, progress through working with other project stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an applicable major at an accredited college/university​ - minimum rising junior in standing for next school year ​

  • ​Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Basic knowledge of project management

  • Time management skills with ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal), process-driven, with a disposition for continuous improvement

  • Demonstrates strong or growing leadership skills
