Providence Senior Director Design Construction in Mission Viejo, California

THE ROLE
The Senior Director of Design Construction will manage multiple service areas as well as lead the service area directors. The Senior Director of Design Construction will help support and oversee the capital project platform and be responsible for developing consistent technology support and integration within the organization. This role will inform Providence Health Services Executive Director with regular updates on progress and performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Initiates, sets, manages and reports against benchmarks, targets and goals for the South Division program aligned with the strategic objectives of Providence Health Services.
Keeps Providence Senior Executives and management informed with regular, detailed and accurate reports or presentations.
Manages service area teams and relationships vital to the success of the capital projects for the South Division Region, and contract negotiations in partnership with Legal and Executives.
Ensure regular linkage and clear communication lines between program and state, local and regulatory jurisdictions to ensure compliance and that current and future program permitting and entitlements are not jeopardized.
Works with state, local and regulatory jurisdictions to communicate and ensure that surrounding communities are not unnecessarily impacted, or, if the impact is unavoidable, works to minimize impact to the program strategic goals for the projects in concert with Providence stakeholders.
Align deliverables at each project turnover to ensure compliance with Providence documentation systems.
Work with Providence Executive Director of Construction, Finance and Accounting to develop budgets and procurement strategies within approved governance guidelines and approval limits.
Apply change, risk and resource management principles when and as required.
Implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people.
Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; or equivalent educ/experience
Master’s degree in science or business administration (preferred)
10 or more years of experience with construction project/program management techniques and methods
7 years of proven experience as director or similar role with large scale construction programs
Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
Outstanding knowledge of data analysis, reporting and budgeting
Thorough working knowledge of MSA Office and program management software (e.g. Basecamp, MS Project etc.)
A business acumen with a strategic ability
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills
Must have 10+ years’ experience in OSHPD/HCAI 1 work
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion
Experience in managing large teams
Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to influence internal and external staff
Ability to inspire and develop staff
Highly organized and demonstrated ability to prioritize.
