Pacific Air Forces Communications Specialist (Digital Media Specialist) in Misawa AFB, Japan

Summary About the position: The primary purpose of this position is to provide photographic, audio and video support for the 35th Force Support Squadron, Marketing & Publicity Office, Misawa AB, Japan. This is a Regular Full-Time position; guaranteed 40 hours a week depending on the needs of the facility. Military Spouse Preference IS lost if selected for this position. Responsibilities Captures passport photos, food specials, portraits, events, retail items, facilities and more. Develops creative concepts to include storyboards, shot composition lists and scripts and executes photo and video projects from start to finish. Independently or with support from the Communications Specialists stages and operates professional camera, video, audio and lighting equipment to capture high-quality visual content. Manipulates graphics created by the Graphic Designers and selects a variety of licensed media/visual materials such as photographs, illustrations, video, motion graphics and visual/sound effects to incorporate into final productions using Adobe Creative Suite applications. Independently creates motion graphics and visual/sound effects, edits photo and video footage using Adobe Creative Suite applications to create final photo and video productions that effectively communicate information to the target audience. Uses Associated Press (AP) format. Provides first line customer service by answering phone calls, responding to emails and in person inquiries. Supports daily accounting duties such as operating the cash register and credit card machine to receive payments, preparing paperwork and recording transactions online. Assists with the delivery of the Force Support Squadron magazine to subscribers and base kiosks. May be required to work an irregular tour of duty, weekends. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must possess knowledge in photo and video techniques to independently operate professional camera, video, audio and lighting equipment to capture high-quality visual content. Must be familiar with using professional design, photo and video post-production software and applications to execute creative photo and video productions for various media platforms. Knowledge of marketing principles and strategies is highly desired. Must be able to read, write and speak English and possess knowledge of written and oral communication as related to design, photography and videography. Strong writing skills is highly desired. Must be able to work effectively with staff and customers and work independently while managing multiple projects. Working knowledge of the Force Support Squadron facilities, services, programs and policies is highly desired. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to successfully complete a physical to ensure performance of required duties. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check. May be assigned other duties such as Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
