Overview

The core focus of the Solution Architect Data Tools & Technology is creating a sustainable technical architecture. The role is responsible for the design of one or more end to end solutions for a business/IT product or service and the role will work closely with cross functional business and technical teams. The individual has a balanced mix of technical and very strong business skills, working with an enterprise architect for strategic direction. The individual leads the overall technical vision for a particular platform (across all modules) or solution(s) to provide a business product or a business/IT service. The individual can make technical decisions regarding a solution and can articulate how the technology design impacts business outcomes. The development or infrastructure teams use the information to implement the solution to meet business outcomes. The Solution Architect Data Tools & Technology role is considered a leader within the SGWS IT organization and will require a strong level of leadership and associated behavior competencies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships and partner with business stakeholders for key initiatives related to Data platforms, BI and Analytics, Master Data Management and AI/ML.

  • Ensure solution designs are in alignment with the architecture principles, guidelines and patterns before presenting to ARB (Architecture Review Board).

  • Create new patterns and maintain existing patterns for data architecture.

  • Provide guidance and expertise in designing solutions, defining standards and best practices in cloud data platforms.

  • Prior hands-on experience in building end-to-end data pipelines, covering data acquisition, ingestion, transformation, enrichment and delivery (using AWS services).

  • Experience working with unified data platform (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) and building data pipelines using framework-based approach for code reusability and standardization.

  • Collaborate with other functional and technical architects and create artifacts (Conceptual Architecture, Reference Architecture, Use case diagrams, data flows and Blueprints).

  • Review the current state and define the Target state architecture for the cloud data platform, mapping the Process, Capabilities and Technology.

  • Proactively follow industry trends, evaluate and stay updated with the emerging technologies in Data & AI/ML space.

  • Communicate risks and solutions to cross functional key stakeholders

Additional Primary Responsibilities

  • which framework, platform, or tech-stack can be used to create a solution

  • how the application will look, what the modules will be, and how they interact with each other

  • how things will scale for the future and how they will be maintained

  • figuring out the risk in third-party frameworks/platforms

  • finding a solution to a business proble

  • the sustainability of a solution

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of work experience in IT with experience in designing technical solutions to meet business needs"

  • Prior hands-on experience in building end-to-end data pipelines, covering data acquisition, ingestion, transformation, enrichment and delivery (using AWS services)

  • Experience working with unified data platform (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) and building data pipelines using framework-based approach for code reusability and standardization.

  • Broad experience and exposure to a single platform environment to enable the proper perspective and ability to design an application or infrastructure solution

  • Can explain to business leaders a Strong understanding of business' processes in order to create a cohesive vision of a usable product

Physical Demands

  • Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or mobile device

  • Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping

  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
