Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-oriented Cable Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cable systems, including coaxial, CAT5, CAT6, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi networks, for both residential and commercial clients. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred to effectively communicate with a diverse customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
Install and configure coaxial cables, CAT5, CAT6, Ethernet networks, and Wi-Fi systems.
Set up routers, modems, access points, and other networking equipment.
Ensure cable routing and installations meet safety and quality standards.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair issues related to cable connectivity, internet speed, and signal strength.
Use testing tools to analyze signal quality for coax, Ethernet, and wireless networks.
Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and service interruptions.
Customer Service:
Communicate clearly with customers in both English and Spanish to explain services, installations, and troubleshooting steps.
Educate customers on the proper use and maintenance of installed equipment.
Provide updates and resolutions promptly and professionally.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow safety protocols when working with electrical systems and cabling infrastructure.
Ensure all work complies with company policies, industry standards, and local regulations.
Documentation:
Accurately record work performed, equipment used, and system configurations.
Submit detailed reports on installations, repairs, and customer interactions.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications in networking or telecommunications are a plus).
Experience with installing and maintaining coaxial, CAT5, CAT6, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi networks.
Proficiency in using cable testing tools, signal meters, and hand tools.
Strong understanding of telecommunications systems and networking principles.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is highly preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in diverse environments.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry equipment and tools up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working at heights, using ladders or bucket trucks.
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
