Your role as a Civil Engineering Technician-Internship
As a Seasonal Civil Engineering Technician Intern at Ackerman Estvold, you'll engage in a variety of stimulating tasks that contribute significantly to our municipal infrastructure and land development projects. Your responsibilities will include measuring and calculating construction quantities to assist in grading projects and ensuring that our water distribution systems and sanitary sewer systems are built to the highest quality standards. You'll read and interpret plans and specifications, performing project inspections to ensure compliance with these documents. In addition, your skills in preparing accurate records, reports, and project files will be put to good use, as you may also have the opportunity to aid in design, plan preparation, and quantity estimating for exciting projects like roadway improvements and storm sewer systems. To thrive as a Seasonal Civil Engineering Technician Intern at Ackerman Estvold, you should have a strong foundation in civil or environmental engineering, as these majors are highly preferred. A valid driver's license with an acceptable record is essential, as you'll be working onsite in various locations. Excellent oral and written communication skills are crucial for effectively interacting with project managers and other stakeholders.
A willingness to learn and a positive attitude will enrich your experience and contribution to our projects. Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, and crawl, as well as handle tools and controls while lifting and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Knowledge, skills and physical demands required for the position are:
Working toward Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering majors, highly preferred
Maintain a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Use hands to handle tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
