Food Service at the Mission prepares and serves three hot, wholesome, and healthy meals each day, 365 days a year. Providing hundreds of meals each day and thousands at Thanksgiving. Food Service plays an essential role in meeting the tangible needs of men, women, and children at UGMTC and in the community. JOB DESCRIPTION We are hiring an Assistant Kitchen Manager for our Emergency Shelter and residential programs. You can make a difference! This opportunity goes beyond managing a kitchen. You will be able to supervise our fantastic team of daily volunteers who are ready and eager to help. POSITION SUMMARY With limited supervision, manages the activities and operations of a multiple-location Food Services program in alignment with UGMTC s mission, values, and goals. Oversees, implements, and executes day-to-day planning and service, and supervision of staff. Supports Food Services Director in the implementation and execution of the department s strategic goals to ensure access and positive outcomes for UGMTC guests and residents. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises back of house kitchen operation; provides backup and support for all essential front of house functions as needed. Ensures that all food items are prepared, portioned, and presented properly in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner according to standards. Implements established standards, including compliance with UGMTC standards for cost control, waste reduction, food safety and service to guests and residents. Makes administrative and procedural decisions and judgments within scope of role. Directs and/or participates in provision of supplies for the kitchen. Completes inventory and ensures proper levels of food and supplies are on hand at all times. Maintains cooperative relationships and communication with team to ensure access and positive experiences for UGMTC residents and guests and achievement of program objectives. Supports the mission and values of UGMTC and provides a welcoming and safe environment for residents, guests, volunteers, staff, and in community-facing opportunities. Provides staffing coverage when necessary.
