The position offers the opportunity to be on the cutting edge of technology applied in the remediation industry, including 3D visualization modeling, forensic studies and investigation, high resolution site characterization (HRSC), remediation systems engineering design, etc.
The Assistant Geologist will perform environmental site assessments, logging of soil borings, subsurface soil sampling, installation and sampling of monitoring wells, report & permit preparation, and other activities, as required by the projects, including federal, state, local, and commercial clients. This position is responsible for field sampling, investigations, and report writing.
This individual will be part of an experienced team working on a variety of site investigation and remediation projects and will generally perform the following duties:
Execute environmental site assessments, including subsurface soil and groundwater sampling, air monitoring, monitoring well installation, soils logging, etc.
Assist in the preparation of environmental investigation work plans, reports, feasibility studies, etc.
Assist in remediation systems design, including in-situ remedies, cover systems, water recovery and treatment, etc.
Assist with field related activities including logging soils, air monitoring during investigation and remediation activities, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, collection of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, and collection of soil for physical testing.
Assist in assessing soil and groundwater data, developing soil and groundwater sampling plans, data compilation for soil, air and groundwater analytical results.
Assist with proposal and report writing for environmental based projects.
Assist in coordinating and scheduling subcontractors for field investigation activities and assisting with site remediation planning and implementation.
Assist in coordinating laboratory analysis appropriate to the proper identification and evaluation of samples.
Assist with on-site field monitoring to document compliance with various federal, state, and local permit requirements during project construction.
Work closely with project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.

Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Geology or related Environmental degree is required.
Master of Science in Geology preferred.
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience required. Previous internship experience, including hazardous site assessment experience, such as Phase I, Phase II and remediation preferred.
Two years of related professional experience highly preferred.
Basic knowledge in standard geological techniques, principles and procedures.
Basic knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System. glacial deposits, hydrogeology and ground water sampling.
Basic knowledge of OSHA, CERCLA and remedial design.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training Preferred
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Basic knowledge in ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
