ABOUT YOU:

This role is responsible for collaborating with the Yearbook Product Team to administer and execute key projects supporting defined business strategies and tactical plans, from both a product and project perspective. This includes developing products and processes, as well as executing go-to-market activities that support the design, management, and testing of new/existing page layouts, templates, and artwork files for production. The final artwork and layouts will be used across multiple creation platforms, including online and in Adobe InDesign. The incumbent works with the direction and guidance of the assigned Product Manager to manage and complete all activities and deliverables for assigned projects, at times through coordination of cross-functional teams. The general focus of the job is on projects which are multi-dimensional and cross-functional in scope. This role works directly with the internal marketing, creative, and IT development teams to assist in annual updates and new product development. As a Product Specialist, you have a passion for the products you work with and keep expanding product knowledge. Product Specialists have a keen eye for design and spotting market trends, a willingness to inspire sales representatives and customers, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

YOU HAVE:

  • Education. Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar role.

  • Technical skills. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficient in Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, XD). Proficient in WordPress and online CMS systems. Practical working-level fluency in Web technology and mobile applications. Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn new tools and applications. Preferred advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and WordPress. Preferred experience working within Digital Asset Management Systems. Preferred knowledge of project management tools, like Jira.

  • Experience. Preferred 2-3 years’ experience preparing files for print production. Preferred experience in the education, marketing and/or past yearbook creation. Preferred understanding of product management, product life cycles and process.

  • Agility. Flexible approach to developing solutions for stated challenges/opportunities. Preferred experience working within an Agile environment.

  • Creativity. Strong knowledge of print publishing and editorial design. Understanding of page layout and production best practices. An eye for design with the ability to identify and forecast upcoming design trends.

  • Attention to detail. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and project coordination skills. Ability to maintain product specifications and technical support documentation. Energetic, creative problem solver with strong attention to detail. Preferred understanding of Customer Service, Manufacturing and Systems required to support a product launch.

  • Great communication skills. Highly motivated with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team and manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously. Ability to develop strong partnerships internally and externally with vendors/partners. Ability to maintain strong customer relations and provide product support.

    YOU WILL:

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and management of marketing projects. Coordinate project or product activities to deliver on stated marketing and business objectives, including but not limited to the following:

  • Providing a single point of contact for all related work on assigned projects.

  • Act as the voice of the customer – pre, during and post-development; seek and identify market needs and requirements; balance market needs with Jostens enterprise business strategies.

  • Work with cross-functional teams on approach, strategies, content development, revenue/CIP plans for product/project.

  • Assist in the development of detailed strategic vision, pacing/phasing, work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.

  • Document meeting notes, processes, and product specifications.

  • Work on systems implementation.

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders, including end users, sales, marketing, creative, IT, and operations, to execute and implement product/project plans.

  • Channel integration – communication plans, education/training, implementation, market expansion, etc., in support of the in-school channel and customer service customer touchpoints.

  • Participate in project/product meetings, tracking and analysis. Develop and maintain milestones and project plans.

  • Make recommendations and act on the analysis and solutions of problems.

  • Support P&L targets, measures, and results – both revenue and CIP.

  • Oversee multiple initiatives in parallel in the context of the overall marketing project portfolio.

  • A key objective of the role is to improve communication and cross-functional execution.

  • Conduct market research and analyze trends, perform product demonstrations to staff and customers, gather feedback, and offer recommendations to the engineering team, including but not limited to the following:

  • Answering all product-related questions in a polite manner and addressing queries promptly.

  • Collaborating and strategizing with the business and engineering teams.

  • Attending workshops and refresher courses in sales and marketing.

  • Planning and assisting with new product releases and events.

  • Performing product demonstrations for customers, staff, and other stakeholders.

  • Assisting with the development of business plans.

  • Scheduling training sessions and attending meetings as required.

  • Identifying new market opportunities and relaying this information to the Manager and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Making helpful product recommendations and suggestions to increase revenue.

  • Administer Go-To-Market processes for assigned product(s), including coordination and execution of product and processes like systems testing, sample development, process improvement, etc.
