Position Purpose:

The Vice President, Strategic Sourcing plays a critical role as part of our Supply Chain leadership team responsible for optimum efficiency and costs. This role is responsible for Sleep Number’s end to end sourcing of products and services essential for our enterprise operations. This role will develop and deploy strategy to assure supply continuity, create competitive environments, creatively negotiate and deliver long range planning of our procure-to-pay processes delivering operational excellence. This role will ensure that performance objectives are met for Product Complexity, Supply Chain Complexity, and Supplier safety, quality, delivery, responsiveness, lead time interruptions, and total cost across the supply chain, while building an engaged workforce.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assure continuity of supply to meet production targets

  • Lead sourcing organization to identify strategies for cost engineering opportunities, production efficiencies, improving quality, and reducing costs while taking into account market trends, customer demands, and resource constraints in collaboration with Product and Planning teams. 

  •  Develop and execute multiyear supplier sourcing strategy, establish KPI goals to drive sourcing initiatives that enable sustainable speed and agility to deliver profitable top-line growth. 

  • Partner with Product, Planning, and Operations leaders to align on business priorities, KPIs, product strategies and product portfolio to build resources (internal & external) needed to deliver on future portfolio requirements. 

  • Provide the strategic direction and goals for operational infrastructure and execution on our products from the point when they leave the supplier until they are in the hands of our distribution partners

  • Build a high performing team, specifically optimizing org design, role definition, create operating mechanisms, team norms, and common goals

  • Develop standard operating procedures, metrics and mechanisms to achieve business results that drive continuous improvement in all aspects of sourcing, supplier development and product portfolio management.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • A defined and measurable program and business system developed to build and sustain a continuous improvement culture.

  • Functions capable of meeting or exceeding goals in critical KPI areas

  • Successful development and advancement of Sourcing, Supplier Development, Material cost reduction, and Product Portfolio Management

  • Measurable improvements in total cost, safety, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and lead time interruptions

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience managing teams in a manufacturing, warehouse, and/or complex logistics environment

  • 10+ years of continuous improvement/lean methodology experience, with demonstrated of CI and business systems development

  • 5+ years leadership experience leading leaders in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain

  • Focused formal training and work experience with Lean methodologies, continuous improvement and problem-solving tools

  • Demonstrated coordination of significant Kaizen events across multiple functional areas

  • Experience in guiding an organization through goal deployment and strategy development at a Senior level

  • Direct experience operating or leading under a Project Management Office governance structure

  • Demonstrated experience in training program development, and training deliver

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills/instructor skills; at ease moderating large groups and presenting to Senior leadership/Board of Directors.

  • Must be a strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.

  • Must have a strong track record of developing talent at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees and work cross-functionally.

  • Strong organization, administrative and attention to detail.

  • Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and decision-making; Lean certification a plus.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively manage stress; work effectively in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills.

Salary Pay Range: $206,000.00 -$303,000.00
