In this position, you will serve as the Internal Assistant Director in the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Center. The EDI Center's mission is to advance the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion to create the conditions for building authentic cross-cultural communities where harm is eliminated, and every person's humanity is acknowledged and valued. In this position, you will provide In this role, you will develop and implement comprehensive agency-wide planning and setting strategic direction and coordination of equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion program(s). Partner and advise across all levels of the organization to develop, implement and track progress against ongoing initiatives that help dismantle inequities and enhance MDE’s inclusive work environment.
In addition, this position;
• Directs and implements the department Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity program to ensure compliance with all application state and federal laws and regulations under Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity and other applicable policies.
• Directs and oversees the EDI Center federal and state grant programs including evaluation development, implementation, and tracking for program effectiveness, budgeting and assigning resources, assigning job duties and directing employees in the execution of assigned job responsibilities.
• Oversee the development and implementation of government relations policy initiatives and actions.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires Five (5) years of Professional experience in K-12 education OR
A bachelor's degree and Four (4) years of Professional experience in K-12 education
Experience must include:
• Experience supporting, leading or developing processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity laws
• Past supervisory or leadership experience that includes direct oversight of staff
• Experience developing and facilitating anti-racist, anti-bias and/or culturally responsive professional development.
• Experience coaching leaders and/or educators for the advancement of equity, diversity and/or inclusion efforts.
• Experience creating equity, diversity, and inclusion guidance and/or resources.
• Experience overseeing and managing budgets
• Experience assisting with the MN legislative process
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience leading or supporting organization change management initiatives.
• Experience leading or implementing education equity policies and practices that advance equity, diversity, and inclusion programming.
• School leadership or school administrator experience
