This position is designed to conduct currently funded and future research and evaluation on programs and services related to several project including: (1) the California Community Living Network's Person-centered Advocacy Vision & Education (PAVE) and Direct Support Professional University (DSPU) projects, (2) the Research and Training Center on Community Living (3) Special Olympics North America's Unified Champion School Longitudinal Evaluation Project (SONA-UCS) and the National Center for College Students with Disabilities (NCCSD). Research, evaluation, and development activities will include measurement development support and evaluation on a large-scale systems change demonstration home and community-based services project, development and piloting of a supported decision-making training program for transition-age youth with IDD, evaluation of the social emotional learning and self-determination outcomes associated with participation in high school level Unified Champion School programs, and both research synthesis and development of training modules designed for faculty and staff from Institutions of Higher Education to support the inclusion of students with disabilities in degree granting college and university programs. Successful applicants for this position will also be required to initiate development of their own lines of research with the goal of eventually attaining the status of principal investigator within the Institute on Community Integration. Primary duties will involve leading and coordinating research projects and other evaluation and development activities (e.g. synthesis of existing research findings, research instrument design and development, data collection and management, data analysis and writing technical reports). The researcher in this position will need to possess the capacity to produce technically and methodologically sound manuscripts for peer-reviewed journal articles and author technical reports, book chapters, and other publications. The position will also require the ability to disseminate information on current and future studies and technical assistance programs state, regional, and national presentations. This position is one in which the researcher will be expected to assist with grant writing and develop new research opportunities by serving first in a Co-Principal Investigator (CoPI) role and later as a Principal Investigator capacity authoring new proposals, and seeking a variety of federal international, and state opportunities. In addition, preparing and overseeing on-going compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB), Sponsored Project Administration, and External Sales Administration requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA) are essential component of this position. Job Responsibilities Conduct Research (75%) Design, implement and manage research, training, and technical assistance projects. Direct and implement research projects that include both qualitative and quantitative data analysis methodologies. Engage in scholarship that will lead to reports and peer-reviewed journal articles, and that will provide useful information to policymakers, the federal government, states, and other stakeholders. Translate research findings into infographics, website materials, and related electronic means of scientific communications. Develop, monitor, and ensure proper compliance with standard operating procedures, data management systems, institutional review board, and related policy and procedures processes necessary for the relevant research, training, or technical assistance are followed for all research involving human subjects. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including external partners across the University, and with state, regional, and national stakeholders and partners. Independently develop, lead, and collaborate on new lines of research in relation to supporting the inclusion and full community participation (education, community living, employment) of children, youth, transition-aged youth, and adults with disabilities through assessment, evaluation, intervention, and other supportive means. Research Development, Management, and Research to Practice Activities (25%) Manage projects independently, including the development and management of work plans, timelines, and budgets to meet project goals. Oversee data reporting to funding agencies, such as progress reports, and ad hoc reporting requests. Directly supervise the work of professional staff and students in relation to project duties. Author technical reports and peer-reviewed journal articles based on research. Lead and/or support the writing of grant proposals to ensure successful continuation of existing lines of research and the initiation of new project. Prepare and submit progress reports to federal and other funding agencies. Translate research to practice and disseminate to state and regional teams. Provide consultation, training, and outreach as part of research and evaluation efforts. Translate data gathered from teams to be used in evaluation research. Participate in ICI team meetings and events, as requested. Qualifications Required Qualifications Advanced degree in special education, psychology, educational psychology, social work, or related field. A minimum of 2-years of post-degree experience in a position that entailed leading and/or coordinating a research and/or evaluation project. A publication record that includes a minimum of three articles and/or book chapters accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal Demonstrated commitment to advocating for an inclusive environment for all backgrounds, abilities, and identities. Preferred Qualifications PhD in special education, psychology, educational psychology, social work, or related field. Three or more years of research experience with substantial research and publication record related to supporting children, youth, transition-aged youth, and/or adult with disabilities. Experience developing research and evaluation proposals that have been submitted to federal agencies Experience completing quantitative and qualitative data analyses for research projects that employ a variety of methodologies.
