Job Responsibilities: 20-50%: Grantsmanship assisting Dr. Ludewig in the submission of NIH, federal, foundation and internal University grants to support a research agenda related to shoulder biomechanics and rehabilitation. The broad goals of the labs work 1) understand the anatomical and movement related mechanisms of musculoskeletal disease; 2) develop and validate image-based methods of quantifying joint motion to improve diagnostic classification; 3) determine the most effective rehabilitation and surgical interventions to resolve musculoskeletal joint pain and restore function; and 4) determine the most effective interventions to prevent initiation or progression of musculoskeletal disease. Opportunity to progressively develop as an independent scientist can be provided to candidates with such an interest. 50-80%: Research project management with emphasis on advancement of ongoing projects incorporating curriculum development and testing for musculoskeletal simulation, biplane radiography and 2D/3D shape matching, and clinical testing of patients pre and post surgery or rehabilitation. The successful applicant is expected to regularly contribute to manuscript publications, as well as conference presentations. 10-20%: Assist Dr. Ludewig with student mentorship and training of a lab team regularly incorporating PhD students in Rehabilitation Science, professional physical therapy students, medical residents, medical students, and undergraduate students and volunteers from a variety of backgrounds including engineering and the health sciences. Includes contributions to a course on 3D kinematics. The lab is highly collaborative with physical therapy, engineering, orthopaedic surgery, and other disciplines. Other duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the position. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Advanced Degree in Rehab Science or related discipline. One (1) or more years of research training or experience. Active Physical Therapy license in Minnesota. Demonstrated team-oriented mindset. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong ability to collaborate across an academic research setting. Demonstrated commitment to excellence. Preferred Qualifications: PhD or pending PhD in Rehab Science or related discipline is strongly preferred. A DPT and shoulder research expertise.
