They will maintain lab equipment, test out new protocols. They will work independently with minimal guidance and may act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 34% Lab Management: Weekly lab management tasks include record keeping of mouse colony, reagents, lab supplies, IMHA, chemicals or biohazards. Maintains equipment, independently sets up equipment for experiments. Independently determines lab needs and manages lab ordering, purchases and deliveries. Responsible for troubleshooting problems with orders, partnering with vendors to find lost packages and receive quotes on items, finding the best products/price for items that need to be ordered, researching and determining products/vendors needed for new protocols and experiments, Storage of items upon delivery with accurate records kept of items purchased. 33% Data Analysis and Organization: Independently perform data analysis using R and other platforms on various big datasets generated in the lab. Develops protocols for troubleshooting and optimizing techniques within the lab. Accurate record keeping of all data generated. Assist PI in designing new research experiments. Meet with PI to discuss data, results and new experiments. 33% Animal Experimentation: Genotyping, mouse colony maintenance and management, collect and record data, mouse necropsies - apply new advanced skills/procedures relating to job, including dissection of mouse brain, and perfusion; collect and preserve biological samples, process tissues for analysis, responsible for training and supervising, while answering questions and helping student employees. Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: -Masters and 2 years related experience or BS/BA and 4 years of related experience -Knowledge in big datasets analysis, and experience with bench work and lab techniques. -Experience working with mice. -Must have strong problem-solving skills, an ability to multitask and to work independently. Preferred Qualifications: -Applicants should have an interest in aging research and interest in working with laboratory animals.
