This position will work under the direction and day-to-day supervision Dr. Andrew Adams and other senior Researchers in the lab. The purpose of the Researcher 1/2 position is to assist in the areas of investigation of our lab. Those areas are (1) costimulation blockade and costimulation independent rejection (2) xenotransplantation (3) transplant diagnostics (4) transplant outcomes. Job Duties: Perform a variety of molecular and biochemical analyses on animal specimens, including fluorescence microscopy analyses, flow cytometry, cell isolation, freeze/thaw of archived cells, cell culture; flow cytometric characterization and purification (sorting); biochemical assays on DNA, RNA/protein. Preparation of media and various molecular biology techniques. Collect and integrate data from multiple sources. Review literature for relevant sources of scientific information and methods. Mouse colony management, such as: breeding, checking for new liters, weaning infant mice. Maintain laboratory equipment, order and stock items. Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications. Conduct background literature research on relevant topics including current methods, reagents, and ethics. Prepare media, enzymes, and solutions under sterile conditions in large quantities. Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience to total four years. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to learn complex processes or procedures and desire to learn and grow in a scientific field. Team player who has demonstrated experience successfully working with others to achieve a common goal. Ability to work on-site, M-F and flex schedule as needed based on the activities of the laboratory Will be required to stand for several hours at a time and required to lift and move up to 25lbs Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing sterile cell culture. Understanding of laboratory protocols and necessary steps to ensure compliance with protocols and animal use regulatory standards. Biological tissue handling & processing, routine lab-related tasks. Previous experience following written protocols and maintaining accurate and complete documentation of all procedures and experiments including demonstrated ability to readily perform all necessary laboratory equations and calculations. Experience reporting effectively on the progress and direction of individual projects. Previous experience using software to track data and output data into visual representation.
