The candidate will then build Arduino hardware in conjunction with the printed housing to make small electronic devices for measuring mouse behavior. They will be responsible for coding software for collecting data with the devices. They will maintain and repair the devices as needed. Devices include but are not limited to: FED3 and lickometers. 50% Research support and assistance: the candidate will be expected to assist on projects focused on assessing mouse behavior. They will use the devices that they built to monitor mouse activity and collect data. They will be responsible for maintaining data records. Training will be provided on interacting with mice. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * BS/BA or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. * Experience with 3D printing and Arduino devices and coding * Must be willing to work with mice. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with mouse handling, and basic lab experience is preferred but not required. * A background in neuroscience, pharmacology, or related fields of science appreciated. About the Department The laboratory of Brady Atwood, PhD, is focused on understanding the functions of specific synapses in the brain and how these functions are impacted in disease states. The Atwood laboratory uses a multidisciplinary approach, from molecular analyses to studies of animal behavior, to elucidate the function of specific synapses in brain circuits that influence motivated and habitual behaviors. In addition, we are interested in how diseases and conditions such as drug addiction, obesity, and neurodegeneration affect how these same synapses function.
