The Research Professional 5 provides research support functions to actively improve investigators' ability to conduct research effectively and efficiently in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. The position will work closely with the Vice Chair of Research, Division Director, faculty PIs, and the leadership team in the coordination of the Department's research portfolio, including operational and project management to meet project milestones and deliverables. Ideal candidates will have professional experience in neuropsychology, psychology, or physical medicine & rehabilitation and are motivated to grow their knowledge base. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 40% - Research * Create guidelines, policies, and procedures to provide structure to research functions in collaboration with leadership * In collaboration with leadership, enforce compliance of policies and guidelines within the department * Provide oversight for research operations; responsible for all aspects of research, including monitoring, fiscal oversight, data integrity, patient safety, and regulatory compliance * Oversee operational processes and identify and implement process improvement, as needed * Assess and analyze research portfolio budgets to minimize expense and optimize utilization * Serves as a resource for all study staff, faculty, and trainees in the department * Work with journal editors/reviewers for publication * Literature searches 40% - Research Project Management * Modifies practices and procedures to improve efficiency and quality; searches for better ways to effectively achieve end results by, for example, scheduling work steps, arranging/ re-arranging the way work is generally performed, and adding or deleting elements of processes as necessary * Oversight of research studies, in conjunction with the study coordinator * Management of day-to-day relationships with PIs and study coordinators * Liaise with pre-award and post-award teams to assist with grant submission and ongoing grant management * Develop and manage division databases * Provide project management support for multiple research projects 10% - Grants Support * Monitoring research budgets * Pre-award duties: letters of support, biosketches, other support docs, etc. * Tracking reporting dates for active grants * Submit manuscripts * Work with department web staff to update research web pages * Create, maintain, and release social media updates on Twitter/Instagram/LinkedIn pertaining to research * Research newsletter publication * Spinal Cord Injury research registry management * ClinCards management for participants * Administrative functions and event coordination, for example including setting up necessary meetings and taking minutes 10% - Training and Other * Maintain and update a research database of expertise for determining optimal internal collaborations, including pairing with education teams to integrate trainees * Develop and maintain departmental research tool kit * Training psychometrists across the practice * Other duties as assigned Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * BA/BS Degree with at least 6 years of experience or advanced degree with 4 or more years of experience * Demonstrated strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and data management skills with an ability to work collaboratively with diverse audiences * Demonstrated ability to a alyze, design, optimize, and present complex processes, including databases * Proficient with various technology applications, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Google Suite, virtual meeting platforms, internet applications, data entry, basic web design, and database software, with the drive to learn new systems as needed * Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with diverse audiences * Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently part of a team * Demonstrated ability to organize and present complex information PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience collaborating with individuals across multiple departments, practices, and health systems. * Master's degree in health or research administration-related field * Experience or understanding of neuropsychology, psychology, or physical medicine and rehabilitation * Proficiency in IRB process and compliance rules pertaining to research, confidentiality, and HIPAA * Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) experience * Experience implementing new technology solutions, research workflows, and administrative procedures with clinical research teams * Grant writing and administration experience * Experience training others on systems or processes * Mentorship and/or supervisory experience * Understanding of academic research infrastructure, services, and resources About the Department To learn more about the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, please visit https://med.umn.edu/rehabmedicine Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $73,000 - $77,500; depending on education/qualifications/experience Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff Please visit the Office of Human Resources website for more information regarding benefit eligibility.
