The Department's educational and training programs include an adult neurology residency with 24 residents and seven different fellowship programs (Vascular Neurology, Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology, Critical Care Neurology, Epilepsy, Neuromuscular Medicine, Clinical Neurophysiology and Movement Disorders). The Department is home to seven NIH-funded researchers whose funding includes an NINDS P50 Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease Research and an NINDS StrokeNet Regional Coordinating Center. Job Duties/Responsibilities: * Initiate new research protocols, screen and recruit clinical trial subjects by pre-screening clinic patients, manage and coordinate research subject's participation, perform patient evaluations, and ensure subject well-being (40%) * Responsible for interpretation of, application of, and compliance with Federal Regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and University and Clinical Partner policies as it relates to assigned research protocols (10%) * Design and provide protocol and study procedures training for other study staff; primary responsibility for interpretation and implementation of the study protocol, procedures and definitions for the study team (10%) * Assist with accurate collection, entry, and management of data from behavioral experiments in human research participants with and without neurological disorders. Report patient data, and respond to data queries. (10%) * Act as information resource to University faculty and staff for protocol specific queries, including availability of trials, enrollment requirements, etc. (10%) * Communication with the IRB, SPA, sponsoring agencies, principal investigator(s), other service providers, subjects, families, and research team members. (10%) * Ensure timely and accurate data and regulatory (FDA and IRB) submissions; engage with providers and investigators to ensure adequate source documentation is available; accurate interpretation and recording of data; maintenance of subject research charts. (10%) This position will be a hybrid position which will require to be on campus (days to be determined). In this position, you are considered an EssentialEmployee. Qualifications Required Qualifications: - BA/BS with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years Preferred Qualifications: * Past experience in one or more of the following: clinical research, biomedical or device research, kinesiology, neurology, neuroscience, Parkinson's disease, public health * Excellent communication skills; verbal and written. * Certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator, or qualified to sit for the SOCRA certification exam. * Experience with: - Informed consent process - Adverse event reporting - regulatory (IRB) applications - Clinical interviewing - Research data documentation - Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Apps, Asana, OnCore, REDCap - EMR/EPIC - Medical terminology - REDCap Salary - $53,000 to $60,000 (DOQ) About the Department The Movement Disorders Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a research coordinator to coordinate several human research prot cols. The mission of the Movement Disorders Laboratory is to gain a greater understanding of the mechanisms causing movement problems in people with neurological disorders (such as Parkinson's disease, including patients with implanted Deep Brain Stimulation devices) and to translate this knowledge to the development of new treatments. We use advanced motion capture systems and custom equipment to evaluate how people with these disorders move. The person hired in this position will be in charge of several existing research projects in different stages (beginning recruitment, closing recruitment, data analysis only), managing studies from start to finish: coordinating the enrollment of eligible patients, managing research subjects' participation, performing patient evaluations (such as neuropsychological assessments), collecting and managing data from research participants with and without neurological disorders, extracting and reporting quality subject data and samples and responding to data queries. Excellent communication skills are vital, as this work will necessitate communication with research participants, study team members, regulatory staff, and clinical staff. You do not need to have experience in neurology or neuromodulation to apply for this position, but it is preferred that you have past research or biomedical experience.
