As a Research Analysis Specialist in the Data Practices and Analytics (DPA) division of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), you will plan, develop, and maintain data collections to facilitate quick retrieval and manipulation of data for DPA staff and other program staff and compile and analyze data to produce reports for use by others as needed from existing data collections and databases. Duties will include:
Determining data collection and database requirements working with other DPA staff, IT and program staff.
Providing advice and technical guidance for the new and/or enhanced data collections regarding feasible alternatives and systems.
Determining resources required and the most feasible and cost-effective methods to gather and report data.
Conducting data integrity checks through methodical and well-documented procedures so that all aspects of data are continually reviewed for accuracy until publication or other end-user activities.
Writing and executing computer programs to gather data requested by using packaged software, mathematical formulas and analytical procedures.
Creating visualizations of requested data or for documentation of MDE data and data processes.
Minimum Qualifications

3 years of professional experience in data analysis AND customer service
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree and 2 years of professional experience in data analysis AND customer service
Preferred Qualifications
Experience pulling data using SQL
Experience with education data
Experience creating data dictionaries
Experience creating visualizations of data relationships or data flows
Experience designing technological processes that are more efficient or modernizes existing processes
Experience gathering requirements for a project or data request and translating it into technical requirements or an accurate data pull
