ARIC is a multi-site, population-based prospective cohort study of individuals now aged 80-100 years, who have been followed for over 35 years to better understand risk factors for cardiovascular disease, dementia, and other chronic conditions. The individual in this position will work with the ARIC study team to support the surveillance activities for cardiovascular disease events, such as requesting access to medical records for participants who have been hospitalized, tracking to ensure receipt of medical records, and preparing medical records for review by study clinicians. The part-time (20 hours per week) position is annually renewable depending on funding and performance. Work Arrangements: The work will be conducted in-person during the weekdays (Monday-Friday) at the West Bank Office Building (WBOB), Division of Epidemiology and Community Health located at 1300 South 2nd Street, Minneapolis, MN. An option for a hybrid work schedule once fully trained will be at the discretion of the individual's supervisor. The position will report to Phyllis Thomas, ARIC Study Surveillance Coordinator. Starting Pay Range: $21.64 - $25.00/hour dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Responsibilities: 85% Surveillance Support Request, assess, and track incoming medical records to determine and address any items that are missing. Cross-check electronic index cards with other electronic logs, order supplies, process study letters to cohort, etc. For assigned ancillary studies, assist in obtaining medical records as requested Scan and redact medical records (e.g., remove extraneous information and protected health information. Process invoices from vendors. 15% Administrative Support Entry of data according to study protocol. Other administrative duties (e.g., filing, copying, etc.) as needed or requested. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma/GED and five years related experience to include project management. Coursework in a related field may substitute for some years of experience Great attention to detail and organization skills. Fluency in English (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Comfortable talking on the phone, as necessary for requesting medical records. Reliable transportation or ability to travel to/from WBOB building. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn data entry software. Preferred: Experience adhering to rigid protocol standards. Experience working with health and/or confidential and sensitive data. Experience working with older adults (70+ years old) or individuals with various medical conditions. Hardworking, able to take initiative to solve problems, and willing to fulfill varied study tasks as they arise. Experience working as part of a team. Ability to work independently.
