We are looking for a reliable and accurate fact checker to help make sure our team produces top-notch reporting. This is a good position for someone who has a strong interest in the labor movement and labor journalism, and comes with a strong background in fact checking and research for news organizations. This is a fully remote position. Description of Duties Fact checking: 75% Fact check articles for Workday Magazine. Includes line-by-line verification of facts, with sourcing. Work with the reporter to establish a deadline. Conduct outreach to sources when requested. Research: 25% Conduct research to support the reporting of Workday Magazine. Produce research memos on specific topics. Conduct research activities to support the education services of LES. Other projects/duties as assigned. Qualifications Required qualifications Two years of experience as a fact checker. Experience fact checking in a newsroom setting. Availability Monday through Friday. Preferred qualifications Experience working with Workday Magazine and the Labor Education Service. Experience with, and knowledge about, the labor movement and unions. Strong interest in labor reporting.
