Network Engineer

We are seeking aNetwork Engineerin our Information Systems department for our Minneapolis office. In this role, you will be a key member of a collaborative team of network and voice engineers. Your focus will be to support the data and voice networks. You will design, document, and plan network hardware and software implementations, and maintain monitoring tools. You will also be responsible for the engineering of network systems based on business requirements for over 20 sites in locations within the United States, Canada, China, and Europe.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Enforce network hardware and configuration standards in coordination with management and architecture teams.

  • Provide network support including escalated issue resolution, remediation, technical maintenance, update activities and RFO analysis.

  • Perform monitoring oversight, including alert and statistical reporting to Information Services management with firewalls, routers, switches, network probes, traffic shaping devices, wireless access, voice and video traffic including its impact on the networking infrastructure configurations and WAN.

  • Create and maintain internal technical documentation for the Firm’s voice/video and data networking infrastructure.

  • Maintain configuration standards, templates and operational processes for all related tasks affecting network infrastructure hardware and software packages.

  • Assist with the maintenance of network management and monitoring systems - including but not exclusive to Cisco DNA, HPE Edgeconnect, ACS, ISE, ASDM, Cacti, Scrutinizer, Solarwinds – among others.

  • Participate in network expansion, integration, and upgrade projects based on projected user and system requirements. Assist with research and evaluation of relevant new technologies as directed.

  • Schedule, document, execute, and monitor periodic network infrastructure updates - inclusive of device and peripheral jobs, processes and maintenance tasks according to pre-determined policies and intervals. Coordinate the collection efforts to inventory network device, peripheral components, cabling, and maintenance supplies.

  • Complete documentation of all network service and infrastructure issues in the Firm’s HEAT call tracking system in a timely manner.

  • Respond to escalated network and voice related issues, driving problem resolution across the voice/data network infrastructure. Work collaboratively with the Technical Service Center (TSC) and other Information Services business professionals to document, diagnose, resolve, root cause analysis and follow-up on all escalated technical issues related to service, support and reliability of the voice/data network.

  • Participate in rotating after hours on-call support for escalated issues. Occasional travel, and weekend/after-hours work activities.

  • Maintain current skills and training of network technology trends, product and service offerings.

  • May be requested to perform other duties not listed above.

What we’re looking for:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

  • At least 3 years of experience with voice/data network infrastructure design, support, and configuration.

  • Demonstrated technical skills for maintaining and installing voice/data networks according to defined industry best practices.

  • IP addressing and subnet configuration; Routing Protocols (BGP and EIGRP) and QoS implementation - as examples.

  • Experience with technical design and support of a multi-location, 20+ node MPLS, VPN meshed Wide Area Network or SD-WAN technology topology.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with IDS, IPS, Cisco ASA, FTD, and Palo Alto firewall configuration and security.

  • Ability to maintain work priorities and job performance in a high demand environment.

  • Physical strength and agility to permit the full performance of the duties of the position, including frequent bending, walking and lifting up to approximately 50 pounds.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in computer science, engineering, mathematics, management information systems, or other technical discipline. Alternately moderate equivalent work experience will be considered.

  • Relevant Cisco certifications: CCNA/CCNP.

  • Virtual environment administration experience.

  • Experience with scripting languages.

  • Experience deploying and maintaining Cisco DNA Center cluster.

  • Background in ISE administration.

  • SD-WAN design, deployment, administration. (HPE Edgeconnect a plus).
