This position is also Benefits eligible. Position Overview The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Minnesota in the College of Pharmacy offers a hybrid professional program on the Rochester and Twin Cities campuses culminating in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree (OTD). The Education Coordinator works in partnership with the Program Director, Director of Experiential Learning, Doctoral Capstone Director and faculty course directors to support the delivery of all 9 semesters of the curriculum. The Education Coordinator assists with the tracking of student work in selected courses, coordination of experiential learning, and management of accommodation requests or difficulties accessing course materials. The University of Minnesota's Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program offers a professional program on the Twin Cities campus culminating in either a Bachelor of Science or a Master of Science in MLS. The Program Director works in partnership with MLS faculty course directors to deliver a hybrid curriculum. The majority of our courses are delivered in a hybrid model, with a few delivered in an asynchronous, online format. Didactic "lecture" courses have recorded lectures in the Canvas course sites, with face-to-face class times containing active learning sessions including case studies and other interactive and group activities. Laboratory courses all contain a Canvas course site that provides material to prepare students for the face-to-face laboratory sessions. The MLS Program has recently developed asynchronous, online sophomore level courses to MLS and non-MLS students. Duties and Responsibilities 30%- Occupational Therapy * Evaluate selected materials to ensure consistency with the University's and College's formatting and accessibility initiatives * Collect course syllabi and archive as directed * Work with faculty course directors to provide troubleshooting should technical issues arise in a course and/or with specific students. * Set up accommodations in online courses for students with letters from the Disability Resource Center * Assign due dates for student work in courses where there are multiple tracks/groups of students progressing on different timelines * Track student work in extended experiential learning courses and communicate with students when work is missing * Assist students in writing Incomplete Contracts * Track and remind instructors to grade course work that has been submitted but yet to be graded 50%- Medical Lab Sciences (MLS) Module Coordination * Work in partnership with the course directors on the execution of course preparation, delivery, closing, and evaluation * Optimize the Canvas site and communications procedures to ensure a cohesive experience for students and faculty. * Coordinate the production of course materials including: Implement technology for delivery of assignments, quizzes, exams, and grading rubrics, ensuring that assessments are based on intended learning objectives Evaluate all materials to ensure consistency with the University's, College's and Program's formatting and accessibility initiatives * Consult with the faculty to bolster student learning, engagement, and success Data collection to assess course interventions * Serve as a student advocate and build strong professional relationships with the faculty and students * Serve as a liaison between students and the proper offices and/or authorities on-campus when problems arise, and make appropriate referrals (e.g., student counseling services, academic advising, disability resource center, international student and scholar services, etc.) * Solicit and make autonomous decisions regarding student administrative requests, su h as exam scheduling, extension, and incomplete requests that do not require instructor authorization. * Work with the course directors to provide troubleshooting should technical issues arise in the course and/or with specific students. * Attend applicable meetings and report pertinent information to appropriate team members * Assist in tracking student progression and communicating with advisors 10%- MLS Module Evaluation/Improvement * Work in partnership with the Block Team to improve and develop the execution of course assignments, activities, and evaluation methods. * Facilitate regular feedback from student class representatives, town halls, etc. to enable responsive improvements * Develop and utilize centralized systems to track teaching and learning to support curricular coordination between the blocks * Work with appropriate committees and units to coordinate evaluation plans and reporting Miscellaneous - 10% * Professional development * Other duties as assigned Working Conditions- This role is offered as a hybrid position (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Minneapolis, MN campus on a regular basis. A specific schedule will be determined between you and your supervisor. Qualifications Required Qualifications * Advanced degree in relevant field, with at least 4 years of experience, or a BA/BS with at least 6 years of relevant post degree experience * Effective relationship-building, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and negotiation skills * Strong organizational skills combined with the ability to adhere to timelines * Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively in a complex interdisciplinary setting Preferred Qualifications * Advanced degree in a relevant field and 8 years of demonstrated academic experience * 4 years of experience working in education (work in a health profession school or other higher education setting is a plus) * Previous experience in fields such as teaching, advising/career counseling, communications, and project management * Experience with synchronous and asynchronous educational modalities, creation of multimedia educational presentations, faculty development, and active learning * Ability to understand, interpret, and apply policy About the Department Professional Education Division The Professional Education Division supports the College of Pharmacy's teaching and learning mission through the coordination of our professional programs, experiential education offerings, and innovative online learning opportunities.
