Salvation Army Ministry Discovery Intern in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Qualifications Must be a Christian with the intent of entering ministry. Must be of good character and maturity. Three to four years of relevant college coursework or three to four years full-time non-Salvation Army ministry preferred. Flexibility in work hours and job responsibilities a must. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and complete tasks with a minimum of direction. Computer literate, with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite. Must pass The Salvation Army background checks and meet the MVR driver's qualifications and possess a valid Driver's License. Willingness to support the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of The Salvation Army. Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and Safe From Harm training must be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Summary of Position This is a leadership position, which exists to develop individuals in preparation for fulltime ministry through officership. This individual will work with the Corps Officer to learn and experience involvements with and leadership of the daily and weekly responsibilities and programming of the Corps. The Ministry Discover Program Intern will experience the holistic ministry and mission of The Salvation Army. This will require that duties and responsibilities be adjusted as Corps programming and needs change with seasons, training emphasis and local service priorities, all carries the intent of giving a well-rounded experience and exposure to The Salvation Army programming and leadership. 2024 Lyndale Ave N, Mpls., MN 55411 Essential Duties and Responsibilities This job description is not all inclusive. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates. Support the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating every client, donor, and colleague with respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind. Engage all community members in a way that brings them to the Salvation Army for programming, events, and Pathway of Hope. Participate in Worship and Christian education programs (Sunday School, Bible Studies, Corps Cadets, Small Groups, etc.), including; planning, leading meetings, preaching, teaching, and supporting others in those roles. Participate in and coordinate, as assigned, the development of corps programming worship arts, music programs, special programming (Vacation Bible School, Day Camps, Outreaches) Character Building and Leadership Training for corps members. Represent The Salvation Army at community events including, but not limited to; Service Clubs, Committee participation, school functions, and Ministerial Associations. Participation in and development of community center, social service and core corps programs. Participation and as assigned coordination of seasonal programs including Christmas, Summer Camping Program, and other special events. Participation in pastoral and evangelistic ministries, Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council, and Youth and Adult Planning Committees. Property upkeep and facility preparation for programming. Participate in corps financial goals by observing budget and support of fund raining efforts. Represent The Salvation Army to and work with other staff, public, clients, program participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outside groups, and community residents. Provide supervision to youth and program participants, volunteers, and community service workers.
