Actalent Mechanical Designer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Title: Mechanical DesignerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining standards, designs, drawings, and specifications for quotations, products, and aftermarket services. The role involves creating project schedules to ensure timely completion of projects, resolving production problems, and providing technical and process assistance to the shop. Additionally, the Mechanical Designer will ensure manufacturability input from Manufacturing Engineering is incorporated into designs and provide support to Marketing on inquiries and new orders to assure technical and economic feasibility. Other tasks may be assigned as required by the Leader or Product Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain standards, designs, drawings, and specifications for quotations, products, and aftermarket.

  • Develop project schedules to complete projects within the required timeframe.

  • Resolve production problems and provide technical and process assistance to the shop.

  • Incorporate manufacturability input from Manufacturing Engineering into designs.

  • Support Marketing on inquiries and new orders to assure technical and economic feasibility.

  • Perform other activities as required by the Leader or Product Engineering Manager.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in Design, Mechanical Drafting, and SolidWorks.

  • Knowledge of documentation requirements of ISO 9001.

  • Proficient with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple, changing priorities and problem-solve simultaneously.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing internally and with customers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2 years technical college or 2 years college pre-engineering.

  • Drafting Certificate or equivalent.

  • 0 - 7 years’ experience building on the Detail and Layout Drafter.

  • Self-starter, results-oriented, flexible, and a team player.

  • Demonstrated record of managing projects that produce quantifiable bottom-line results.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00
