Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command Maintenance Worker in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the North Country Lodge on Minneapolis St Paul Air Reserve Base, Minnesota. The position is a regular full-time position, which means you are eligible for benefits and guaranteed to work at least 35 hours per week. Employees will be eligible for the use of the fitness center, lodging, and other activities. Position requires working irregular schedules, to include weekends, holidays, and all shifts. Responsibilities Performs Maintenance and minor repairs to interior and exterior structures. Performs minor repairs and maintenance of furniture to include assembling a new or metal items. Measures, cuts, constructs or repairs wood items. Repairs doors and doorways which require the changing of locks, unjamming doors or sanding and painting small areas as needed. Repairs small holes in sheet rock walls to include patching, sanding, and painting as required. Repairs and replaces curtain rods, towel bars, shower rods, lock hasps and paint. Occasionally repairs loose wall shelves, light fixtures and replaces door locks. Hangs pictures in rooms, uses plumbers force cup to unstop clogged lavatory drains and toilet bowls. Occasionally performs minor repair on lawn mowers and small appliances. Maintains lodging sprinkler systems. Maintains inventory and performs maintenance in the following areas: Repairs to vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaners. Monitors lodging telephones maintenance problems on room phones, replacing cord or head and handsets as necessary. Maintains inventory on all telephone equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Experience which demonstrated skills in all areas of general maintenance such as plumbing, carpentry, painting and wall patching work is required. A sound working knowledge of hand tools and equipment used in the maintenance and upkeep of facilities must be evident. Must be able to follow simple oral and written instructions and speak English. Must be able to work independently and plan work in order to achieve maximum accomplishment of assigned tasks. Basic knowledge of certain electrical fixtures. Requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Must able to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds. Employee must have a valid driver's license. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
