This role coordinates various mailing and shipping services for University students and staff, working closely with Addressing & Mailing Services and Printing Services staff to provide informed, timely, and cost-effective solutions for walk-in customers. The Mailing & Logistics Specialist also coordinates the work of student employees. Responsibilities 50% Customer Service * Provides mailing, shipping, and logistics services to walk-up students and staff, including but not limited to: processing of domestic and international outbound USPS mail, shipment of packages, stamp sales, processing of returns, and shipment of unique packages * Maintains a high level of customer service by utilizing expert knowledge of USPS, timing, and pricing structures; responds to verbal and written inquiries from staff and students * Consults directly with walk-up customers, providing information, making recommendations, and guiding customers to appropriate mailing and shipping decisions * Accurately processes and documents all transactions * Operates point-of-sale (POS) equipment, mail meters, computer stations, and other related technology; maintains equipment and records, including expense reporting * Attends mailing industry seminars and participates in relevant training opportunities, remaining up-to-date on USPS rules and regulations * Maintains a neat, orderly, and professional workspace 30% Coordination * Maintains accurate inventory of all shipping, mailing, and related supplies * Works closely with the local USPS location to request information, receive guidance on USPS issues, and coordinate pickup of outgoing mail * Trains student staff, coordinates schedules, and provides guidance to students to most effectively support full-time staff * Works closely with Coffman Digital Print Center (DPC) staff; coordinates shared student positions with DPC staff * Develops plans and adjusts processes to ensure a high level of customer service during busy periods 20% Communication * Communicates effectively with internal staff, USPS staff, University staff, and students to ensure successful execution of all mailing and shipping services * Works closely with University departmental staff to advise and consult on mailing issues * Develops and maintains strong professional relationships University customers * Effectively communicates with student staff, holding them accountable while being sensitive and understanding of the unique needs of each student and supporting their academic success * Interacts with co-workers and customers in a positive and respectful manner Essential Functions of the Position Advise customers, process mailing and shipping orders, coordinate and guide student staff, and provide a high level of customer service. Work Environment Work is performed in an office environment Classification #: 8422MS-Campus Ops Pro 2 Salary Range: $46,800-77,209 Status: Exempt Probationary Period: 6 months Last Revision: 2024 Qualifications Minimum Qualifications BA/BS and at least two years of mailing, logistics, or customer service experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six years. Demonstrated ability to understand and provide excellent customer service.
