The University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank/Masonic Children's Hospital offers 24/7 Imaging services for pediatric and adult patients. The MRI technologists work collaboratively within the Imaging team and amongst varying levels of clinical practitioners.

We are seeking an MRI Technologist to support MRI services. Typical schedule and hours will be days, Monday - Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM.

Responsibilities Job Description

Maintains and prioritizes work to achieve optimal patient outcomes

Performs individualized, compassionate patient care

Performs high quality examinations

Identifies relevant data from images accurately

Uses appropriate communication skills to meet patient/family, and other customer needs.

Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional

Participates in creating a culture of patient safety

Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness

Verify patient identification and documentation

Communicate with and educate patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam

Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol

Applies established professional guidelines and standards to complex, routine, and non-routine diagnostic testing procedures

Ensures patient data integrity

Adheres to radiologic safety guidelines and diagnostic testing protocols/procedures

Accurately documents in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, and billing status changes

Follows infection control guidelines

Serves as a resource for other healthcare team members

Responds appropriately to emergent situations

Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving

Assesses the validity of the test results to determine if consistent with changing physiological conditions or if due to possible interfering substances

Acts as a resource for problem-solving resolution

Completed all require continuing education to uphold their imaging licensure

Participates as an active team member

Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives

Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position

Cleans and maintains room and supplies

Provides integrated services with customers and care partners to ensure high quality care.

Contributes to a positive work environment.

Correctly operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines

Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working properly.

Maintains a high level of competency and follows MRI Safety protocols

Accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility

Participates in Quality Assurance testing as required by regulatory agencies and/or manufacturer recommendations

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Registration with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association

  • Meet MRI Safety Screen requirements

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior MRI Experience (1+ years) including Cardiac MRI

  • ARRT MRI certification or successful completion within 18 months of hire

  • Experience with Epic/Radiant

  • Understanding of current ACR Guidelines for MRI Safety

  • Knowledge of MRI quality control and safety standards

We are are open to candidates without prior MRI experience who are highly motivated to train on the job to become a certified MRI Technologist.
