This position, reporting to the HR Manager, works with two HR professionals (Employee Experience Leads) to implement strategic initiatives in alignment with the University's PEAK initiative, ensuring consistent, high-quality HR processes for attracting and retaining talent. This role serves as the unit's Time and Absence Administrator, managing biweekly payroll for 250 employees, including P&A, Civil Service, labor-represented, seasonal, and temporary staff. Responsibilities include resolving complex payroll issues with the CFANS Payroll Coordinator, ensuring regulatory compliance, completing documentation, and coordinating payroll close processes. Additional duties include managing HR supplies and purchasing, supporting HR projects, and fostering an inclusive workplace by providing employees with the resources they need to thrive. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and dedicated to excellent customer service. This position will work on-site at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum located in Chaska, MN, and will offer a hybrid work opportunity. Payroll and Systems Coordination (60%) * Serve as unit specialist on University payroll policies, procedures, and HR systems. * Administer time and absence processes; lead audits, quality control, and reporting. * Manage employee payments, including wages, lump sums, augmentations, and wage adjustments (e.g., merit and labor-negotiated increases). * Track and escalate changes in employee status (e.g., temporary employment limits, probationary period completion, or leave balance exhaustion). * Calculate and process distribution changes, including complex retroactive adjustments. * Assist supervisors with TDX "Post a Position" requests and initiate complex HR TDX tickets, such as appointment modifications and terminations. * Coordinate mass change spreadsheets and contribute to developing and improving tools and templates. Onboarding and Offboarding (25%) * Draft and manage offer letters for temporary, casual, and student employees; coordinate background checks and acceptance. * Facilitate remote I-9 verification and maintain onboarding documentation. * Coordinate position management and membership updates for new and departing employees. * Support new hires during onboarding and contribute to New Employee Orientation sessions by providing payroll and policy overviews. Administrative Duties (15%) * Maintain electronic personnel les, ensuring confidentiality and compliance. * Manage HR office supplies, track and reconcile purchasing card expenses, and ensure compliance. * Support HR programs and projects through correspondence, scheduling, reporting, and documentation. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications * BA/BS in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a combination of related education and experience to equal four (4) years * Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support a diverse, fast-paced workforce * Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and diplomacy * Commitment to promoting a respectful workplace while advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion throug demonstrated cultural competency Preferred Qualifications * Experience with UMN PeopleSoft Human Resources Management System (HRMS) or Enterprise Financial System (EFS) * Working knowledge of UMN policies and procedures * Effective problem solving, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to work independently under moderate supervision * Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $26.75 - $30.00/hr ; depending on education/qualifications/experience Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment Position Type:Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff Please visit the Office of Human Resources website for more information regarding benefit eligibility.
