The Office of Human Resources (OHR) provides centralized HR services to the University of Minnesota community. Within our HRMS Reporting and Data team, we seek a business data analyst to provide professional-level business intelligence support through coding of complex SQL for data retrieval, utilizing data from the University's HRMS, Oracle PeopleSoft Human Capital Management. As an HR business data analyst, you will be responsible for intaking data requests and questions, then researching relevant data sources to find answers and provide accurate, timely, documented data solutions to support various aspects of our organization. Responsibilities: Conducts data analysis, interprets data, analyzes results, and communicates results or recommendations. Collects, aggregates, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes business,= operations, customer, and economic data from multiple sources. Evaluates the business data requirements and develops data visualization to connect the data to the business situation. Trains University customers on reporting tools. Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains reports and on-demand queries. Provides business strategy recommendations for optimizing business performance and refining business policy. Identifies and defines process and data improvements. Ensures overall compliance and data integrity by conducting audits. Recommends and implements solutions to operational problems impacting data as well as data dashboarding and data availability issues. Simplifies and documents team processes while continually guiding customers to self-service data tools and enhancing customer knowledge of data. Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS plus at least two years of experience in data analysis, software development, or similar field. Proficiency in SQL coding Strong information technology analysis and testing methodology experience. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to work quickly but thoroughly to understand and translate data questions and requirements into technical questions for data research Strong critical thinking ability including demonstrated skill in approaching problems objectively, drawing conclusions, and developing recommendations Ability to train data customers on technical solutions Microsoft Excel proficiency Mathematics or Finance study or equivalent experience Human Resources business process job experience Benefits Working at the University At the University of Minnesota, you'll find a flexible work environment and supportive colleagues who are interested in lifelong learning.
