This position will provide researchers with training, consultation, and support on our BD LSR Fortessa cell analyzer and BD FACSARIA II cell sorter. A successful applicant will be responsible for training users on operating and maintaining flow cytometers, and provide researchers with advice on panels and experimental design. Focus of Job Responsibilities Operate and Train Users on BD LSR Fortessa and BD FACSARIA II cell sorter - 65% Oversee daily operation of BD LSR Fortessa and BD FACSARIA II cell sorter Train and assist users on BD LSR Fortessa, operate it for researchers if needed. Operate FACSARIA II cell sorter. Collaborate with researchers on experimental design, panel design, and optimization. Prepare and stain samples for flow cytometry analysis or cell sorting. Analyze data for users. Train or assist users on data analysis using FACSDiva, FlowJo, or other analysis software. Create, update, and implement protocols for cytometers - 20% Review and update BSL2 sorting protocol and train Core technician and other users as needed Develop QC protocols for cell sorter and cell analyzer, train Core technician. Hold workshops and seminars to highlight different areas in flow cytometry. Instrument maintenance and upkeep - 10% Responsible for instrument maintenance. Schedules repairs and PMs with manufacturer as needed. Orders consumables and supplies. Qualifications Required Qualifications BS/BA degree and two years of related experience or a combination of education and work experience to equal six years. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Immunology and Cell Biology as it relates to Flow Cytometry. Demonstrated proficiency with BD FACSDiva and FlowJo. Knowledge of other Flow Cytometry analysis software. Willingness to train Core Technician and others in all aspects of Flow Cytometry, including maintenance and QC. Willingness to help researchers with experimental design and optimization. of all types of experiments, trivial or advanced. Strong Computer skills Good written, verbal, and customer service skills with a wide range of users. Desire to learn new techniques and share those with others. Physical & Environmental Requirements Sorting of BSL2 samples will be required. Ability to lift 25 lbs.
