UMPhysicians Faculty Physician - Comprehensive Ophthalmologist (Hospitalist) in Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time, board-certified/eligible Ophthalmologist on the ClinicianTrack at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an Ophthalmologist interested in teaching residents and staffing a clinical practice, particularly in an acute clinic and hospital consultation setting. Position Highlights Key responsibilities include supervising, mentoring, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows as well as developing curriculum. The clinical practice for this position will be focused on hospital-based and acute clinic ophthalmology care. The successful candidate will also engage in academic/scholarly activities either as a collaborator or independent researcher, and participate in faculty development activities tailored to the candidate's career interests and goals. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited ACGME Ophthalmology residency and/or fellowship training program Board eligible/certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology Licensed or ability to obtain the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges About the Department Thedepartmentis driven to educate the next generation of eye care professionals, provide exceptional eye care for our patients, and discover new treatments. We are a collegial group of over 40 faculty members covering all sub-specialties of ophthalmology including Cornea, Neuro-ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Vitreoretinal Surgery (Retina), Uveitis, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Medical Retina, and Optometry. Dr. Silvia Orengo-Nania joined our program in July at our new Department Head and is focused on expanding our faculty and advancing the department in teaching, research, innovation, and excellence in eye care.
