Ameriprise Financial Credit Manager (R24_0000001804) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

We have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Manager to join our team at Ameriprise! Support and handle credit risk of the Bank's Mortgage and HELOC products. Provide day to day operational risk support, portfolio analysis, credit data consumption and reporting, risk management and risk strategies. Conduct reviews of mortgage loans, HELOC/HELOANs and exception requests according to established policies and procedures and appropriate guidelines; examine all documentation for accuracy and completeness. Assist with Mortgage and HELOC servicing activities as well as Pre and Post Purchase Due Diligence Reviews. Key Responsibilities Evaluate mortgage loan data and applicable documentation to determine eligibility, acceptability, and compliance with applicable state, federal and investor guidelines. Perform analysis on conventional conforming and Non-Agency Jumbo as well as HELOC/HELOAN loan data. Execute pre and post purchase due diligence reviews including preparing correspondence, deficiency clearing and additional tasks as necessary. Ability to analyze complex tax returns and accurately calculate income. Identify key loan factors impacting borrower eligibility, property eligibility and credit qualification for complex or atypical financial profiles, collateral and loan structures. Monitor mortgage servicing portfolio and make appropriate recommendations as necessary. Identify and summarize exception loans for escalation to Leadership for business decision. Input data and notes into appropriate loan system. Maintain quality and production standards as set forth by management. Effectively communicate, orally, in writing, and via email, the decisions reached as to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Explain specific reasons for negative purchase decisions and recommend possible solutions. Collaborate with internal partners such as Risk, Product, Compliance and Legal as necessary. Provide support for Internal and External audit requests as well as internal control testing. Partner with Senior Credit Manager and/or Chief Credit Officer on credit policy updates including regular review of agency, competitor and regulatory requirements for adoption. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4-years). 5-7 years of relevant Mortgage Underwriting and Due Diligence Experience. Robust HELOC/HELOAN servicing knowledge including line management review and subordination requests. Knowledge of Quality Control/Due Diligence practices. Superior knowledge of and experience with property and credit underwriting requirements of FNMA, FHLMC, Non-Agency Jumbo, FHA, VA, HELOC/HELOAN as well as other loan programs and private mortgage insurance companies. Excellent written and oral communication skills Superior analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Adept at Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot table. Ability to work independently, analyze data, take and recommend appropriate actions with minimal supervision. Capability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines, all while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Preferred Qualifications Experience with SQL, SAS, R and database.
