Where is the work: This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.
This Compressor Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing modifications to current model compressor products in for Thermo King Transport Refrigeration and Air Conditioning products.
Responsibilities
Responsible for design, requirements management, and/or selection and validation of current model compressor products for transport refrigeration systems.
Interact with manufacturing operations and suppliers to improve quality, delivery, cost, and design for manufacturing.
Interact with quality function on supporting PPAP and part qualification plans
Interact with platform engineering and marketing teams in the integration of compressors into refrigeration systems.
Create and maintain engineering documentation including technical reports, lab test results, drawings, solid models and specifications.
Use modeling, analysis and simulation tools in the design process for lab testing prediction.
Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers, through documenting, reviewing and prioritizing customer requirements.
Develop and maintain compressor/subsystem/subcomponent Design Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs).
Develop test and validation plans and analyze test data, including use of Six Sigma tools, statistical analysis techniques and application of Design for Reliability principles.
Lead and participate in compressor product design reviews.
Prepare complete schedules and reports for assigned projects and achieve scheduled milestones for assigned projects.
Utilize sound project management tools including the Ingersoll Rand’s Product Development Process (IRPDP) for the execution of projects.
Leverage Business Operating Systems (BOS), Networks of Excellence (NoE’s) and quality processes to deliver modified designs to meet product and project goals.
Grow relevant subject matter expertise through mentorship, teamwork, and data collection during engineering activities.
Ability to travel both domestically and abroad up to two weeks at a time. Able to attain necessary visa for travel when applicable. Potential travel up to 10%.
Use Windchill PLM process to manage /own drawing changes and approvals
Provide direction to designers for drawing changes
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering required
Experience with Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DMFEA)
Refrigeration or air conditioning compressor design experience preferred
Refrigeration and/or air conditioning experience preferred
CNC Machined Component experience preferred
Sand Casting, Permanent Mold Casting, Squeeze Casting, or Die Casting experience preferred
Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak testing preferred
Modeling and Simulation experience preferred
Monte Carlo Stack Up simulation experience preferred
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) preferred
Reliability engineering and Design for Reliability (DFR) preferred
Phase-Gate product development processes preferred
Project management experience preferred
Design of rotating machinery: Engines, transmissions, compressors, pumps, motors, turbomachinery, or similar preferred
Pro-Engineer, Creo design, or Windchill Experience preferred
Compensation: $ 70,000-$95,000
This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
