Fairview Health Services Clinical Dietitian I in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

M Health Fairview is seeking a Clinical Dietician to cover a variety of adult units in the East and West Banks at UMMC! This is a FTE, benefit-eligible, float position to cover a diverse number of adult units.

The Clinical Dietitian coordinates the provision of medical nutrition therapy with other members of the health care team. The Clinical Dietitian identifies patients at nutrition risk, assesses nutrition needs according to age and disease specific requirements and develops, and implements and monitors the nutrition care plan and outcomes of intervention. The Clinical Dietitian provides nutrition education to patient, families, health care professionals and the community. Responsibilities include support of the nutrition care delivery system, precepting of dietetic interns/students and participation in performance improvement and research activities.

Job Expectations:

  • Develops a patient-centered and individualized nutrition intervention based on a nutrition assessment that accounts for age, culture, social considerations, readiness to change, and other relevant needs

  • Monitors and evaluates the nutrition intervention, revising as needed to promote positive health outcomes

  • Documents clearly and concisely in alignment with organizational and/or regulatory policies and procedures

  • Orders supplements, diets, nutrition therapy and other pertinent items according to the Medical Nutrition Therapy Protocol Policy

  • Advocates for evidence-based nutrition practices through collaboration with patient, family, and other healthcare professionals

  • Supports the dietetic internship through one of the following:

  • precepting interns 10 days per calendar year

  • Supports team and organization through one administrative duty as assigned by CNM such as running team meetings, completing chart audits, organizing system competencies, serving as safety captain, representing clinical nutrition in system committees, or other duty as assigned

  • Provides care according to organizational ethics, Code of Ethics for profession of dietetics, licensure, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Standards of Professional Practice (SOPP) for dietetic professionals.

  • Practices in alignment with system policies/procedures, practice guidelines, medical nutrition therapy protocols, and Joint Commission standards.

  • Commits to professional development through participation in competencies and seeking additional continuing education opportunities that align with organizational needs and/or professional interests

  • Efficiently uses resources as personnel, monies, equipment, electronic systems, and time in the provision of nutritional care.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

License/Certification/Registration

  • Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

  • If not already registered, must be registered eligible and achieve registration within 60 days of hire

  • Licensed Dietitian through the Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice

  • If licensed outside the state of Minnesota, must have receipt of licensure within 30 days of hire. If not yet registered, must have receipt licensure within 90 days of hire

  • One of the following certifications preferable.

  • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)

  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)

  • Certified Specialist in Obesity & Weight Management (CSOWM)

  • Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP)

  • Certified Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care Nutrition (CSPCC)

  • Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO)

  • Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG)

  • Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR)

  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)

  • Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CTTD)

Experience

  • One years’ experience as a clinical dietitian
