Job Description
This position exists to create and maintain a safe and secure environment, monitor safety and security concerns, is contact person for emergency personnel at Minneapolis Community and Technical College buildings and surrounding property.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervise a shift that consists of Student Safety Monitors.
Perform scheduled unlock/lock-up of all campus buildings. Schedule may change due to special events or academic breaks. Activate/deactivate intrusion alarms as necessary.
Handling and responding to any disturbances and violations of the laws of the state or rules and regulations of the college.
Regulate, monitor and patrol all campus parking areas: parking ramp, auxiliary lot, Fine Arts and Kopp Hall loading dock, Technical Building loading dock ramp and area.
Ensure all campus-wide emergencies are documented and distribute all related information to appropriate designee.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience and/or combination of work experience and education in Security, Crime Prevention and/or Peace Officer.
Ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
Ability to Interpret laws, regulations and policies.
Knowledge of loss-prevention techniques.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
Other Requirements
Must be able to pass FBI/BCA background check free from convictions and/or misdemeanor violations.
Former and/or current employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College.
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
This is an intermittent position. Work hours may vary, however, candidates will be required to work evenings and weekends.
